Daytime Jungle Walk in Tortuguero 🌿🦥🐍🦅

Another incredible day exploring the rainforest of Tortuguero! During our daytime walk, we were lucky enough to spot a Red Brocket Deer, a Three-Toed Sloth, an Eyelash Pit Viper, and a beautiful Laughing Falcon in their natural habitat. 🦌🦥🐍🦅

🦎 Striped Basilisk — Basiliscus vittatus

Meet the Striped Basilisk, one of Costa Rica’s fascinating rainforest reptiles! 🌿 This incredible lizard is an excellent climber, swimmer, and runner.

✨ Fun fact: When escaping a predator, it can run across the surface of the water using its powerful hind legs — earning basilisk lizards the nickname “Jesus Christ Lizard.” 💦

A beautiful little survivor perfectly adapted to life in the tropical rainforest. 🇨🇷🌿

Jaguar Trail Adventure 🐆🌿💦

The trail was completely flooded with water, but that didn’t stop us from having an incredible wildlife experience! 🌿🦥🐒🦎🐸 Despite the challenging conditions, we were able to spot some truly fascinating animals along the Jaguar Trail.

La naturaleza en su estado más puro. 🐆🐢

Lo que observas es el caparazón de una tortuga marina que fue depredada por un jaguar. Es una escena impactante, pero completamente natural. Los jaguares son uno de los pocos depredadores capaces de romper el fuerte caparazón de una tortuga, desempeñando un papel clave en el equilibrio de este ecosistema único de Tortuguero.
