Atlas Travel and Study Abroad is a host and trip coordinating service located in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Atlas designs and provides customized short-term educational trips for Christian high schools and colleges who wish to study and explore Costa Rica. Atlas Travel and Study Abroad is a host and coordinating service for 3 unique programs in Costa Rica:

1. Atlas’ GAP Year Program – Atlas’ GAP Year program was launched in Fall of 2022 in partnership with MissionGo. This program offers two 90 day seme

sters in Costa Rica where high school graduates, ages 17-22, can study Spanish and Biblical studies as well as minister in Costa Rican communities.

2. College Study Abroad Courses – Atlas collaborates with colleges in the United States to design educational experiences in Costa Rica for their students’ course.

3. Short-Term Trips – Atlas organizes and hosts short-term trips for Christian high schools, colleges, churches and para-church ministries that include both ministry and adventure in Costa Rica. For each of Atlas’ programs, Atlas is responsible for all logistics, such as customizing a trip itinerary for each group’s specific needs, transportation, lodging, meals and excursions. Atlas is located in Santo Domingo, Heredia, in Costa Rica.

Ministry & Family Update -

On April 10th, we held our graduation ceremony for the GAP year students! I am so grateful that another group of young people has been equipped to study the Word of God and to live out the truths that they have learned! They also did a great job learning Spanish!

Ministry & Family Update -

All of the students are taking in their last few weeks before returning home in April. Graduation is Friday, April 10th, and they will be flying back to the states the following days.

Ministry & Family Update -

In February, we had 17 parents and family members come to visit their students. We spent time at La Fortuna, a small town surrounding the volcano Arenal. Parents had opportunities to explore the local attractions, and they attended ministries and churches as well. It was a great week!

On January 10th, students returned to Costa Rica after spending a month with their families. The first week of the second semester, students serve with summer camps: a VBS in Turrialba, and an overnight camp called Camp Brittany. On September 11th, we welcomed 13 students for the GAP year! After a busy weekend of orientation and learning about the culture, the students had their first week of class: Hermeneutics with Dr. Craig McClure.

On April 11th, 2025, we marked the end of another fantastic GAP year. We are so thankful for all of the ways the Lord worked in and through us throughout this year. We are so grateful for the opportunity to teach and equip young Christians for their next step, whatever that may be!
We are still receiving students for the 2025-2026 GAP year program. Our mission is to teach young believers how to study and love the Bible and give them an opportunity to serve the body of Christ cross culturally. Spring 2025

On April 11th, we held our graduation ceremony for the 2024-25 GAP year students. It was a great time of celebration, and the students were able to thank our Spanish teachers and church families for their support and encouragement this year.
