The red-eyed green frogs (Agalychnis callidryas):
Physical description:
These fascinating frogs are a vibrant green color that helps them camouflage themselves perfectly among the leaves of the rainforest. Their large red eyes with vertical pupils are their most distinctive feature and give them their name. They have long, thin fingers with suction cups that allow them to climb easily.
Behavior and Habitat:
Red-eyed green frogs are nocturnal animals, which means they are most active at night. They live in the rainforests of Central and South America, where they feed on insects. They are arboreal, that is, they spend most of their lives in trees.
Curiosities:
Their red eyes glow in the dark, which helps them see at night.
They are able to change color slightly to better camouflage themselves.
Males sing to attract females during the breeding season.
