Afternoons in Guanacaste end on the front porch, resting, watching people go by, and sharing stories with friends. That’s where we met 93-year-old farmer Don Juan Camareno, smiling, playful, and proud to say he stays healthy by still working the land.

Guanacaste reminds us every day how lucky we are to have such hardworking, grateful people.

Meet Don Norman
Every morning, you can find Don Norman Porras in Hojancha’s park with his bundle of chances, Costa Rica’s traditional lottery tickets that bring a spark of excitement and hope to everyday life. With his easy smile and stories that travel faster than the wind, he’s part of what makes our Guanacastecan streets feel alive.

When we asked, “Don Norman, can we take your picture?” he laughed, shouted, “¡SURE!” and waved as if greeting the whole world.

Through people like Don Norman, you discover what Costa Rica is truly made of: warm hearts, good humor, and a touch of everyday magic.

Today we celebrate el Día del Sabanero. To honor those who pour their hearts into the fields, meet Don Ismael Rivas and Don Daniel Espinales, sabaneros from Hacienda Aromal in the town of El Triunfo. Guanacaste is a land of hardworking people, deeply connected to their land and the essence of life.
