Dulce Vista

Dulce Vista Dulce Vista has stunning views of the entire Gulfo Dulce and trails throughout the property for tours and to plant endangered food producing hardwoods.

Dulce Vista has incredible bird, animal and bug life including sightings or sounds of 5 species of wild cats! It has a growing system of trails that we use to explore, for tours and also for "jungle gardening." Our goal at Dulce Vista is to establish as many food producing rainforest trees as we can. The property has remnants of primary forest as well as mature secondary growth and a cocoa plantat

ion. We believe that the rainforest can produce sufficient food for humans and animals using some key species such as the Maya Nut, Pilon, Ajo and stinking toe, without the need to cut it down for cattle, rice or soya. In fact the food the rainforest can produce is far superior in nutrition then our traditional staples and it also captures carbon, produces oxygen and medicines while ensuring biodiversity flourishes. Then there is just the absolute magic and wonder of all the different life forms. They are priceless, precious beyond our comprehension. To love the jungle is an indescribable adventure. We would love to share the riches of Dulce Vista with everyone and will open its trails soon for tours. Pura vida!

And that is a wrap! Last day race one 26th and then finished off with a strong 8th! Climbed up the ladder to finish 21st in silver fleet. Sophie learned a ton and is fired up to start racing with the bigger sail in the Olympic ILCA 6 class this season.

So goodbye to the ILCA 4, and hello to the new challenge of ILCA 6!

Thanks LA, conditions were pretty epic!

She has been sailing for 10 days straight, 4-6 hours a day. I would be on the floor in a heap...well done Sophie!

Race day 1! Yesterday had a 42, and then a 24! Winds were gusting over 20 knots and today forecast is the same and maybe more. She said she finally figured out how to steer the boat fast in the choppy waves, which we don't get to practice in Sydney harbour. So game on today go Sophie!

Hurricane Gulch is the name of the racing area off the port of Long Beach. It is where windsurfing began in the late 1960's, playground of legends like Robby Naish. The reason is a very localized wind that starts at 1pm and lasts all afternoon, like clockwork. Hot desert air rises inland as the sun comes up and draws in the cooler ocean air on to the shore, creating perfect conditions for windsports.

Today was the last day of training and Sophie has had a chance to line up with the best sailors in the world and see what the actual regatta will be like. She is learning heaps, and having fun, and I think has blown off some of the cobwebs, and settled some nerves. Tomorrow is rest day, and then Monday qualifying starts to see what fleet (gold or silver) she will be in.

I am hoping to be able to get on the water during the actual racing and then get some video of the action. Stay tuned and thanks for all the support!
