🌿✨ Winged Jewels of Esquipulas ✨🌿

Today, nature gifted us a magical moment during our birdwatching tour in Esquipulas, Costa Rica. Along lush trails and surrounded by the jungle’s song, we were lucky to spot this stunning bird: the Summer Tanager (Piranga rubra) —a fiery red beauty that looked like it flew straight out of a tropical dream. 😍🔴

Every birding trip is a new adventure, and today was no exception. We saw many species, but this one truly stole the spotlight. Observing birds in their natural habitat is not only exciting, it’s a reminder of the vibrant life that surrounds us.

En Manuel Antonio es común ver a este “pequeño dinosaurio del bosque”: la iguana.
Con su color café o gris, y su apariencia prehistórica, muchos se sorprenden al saber que es un animal tranquilo y herbívoro.
Ayuda al ecosistema dispersando semillas, controlando el crecimiento de plantas, y es experta trepadora y nadadora.
Un verdadero símbolo de la selva tropical.

In Manuel Antonio, it’s common to spot this “little forest dinosaur”: the iguana.
With its brown or gray color and prehistoric look, many are surprised to learn it’s a peaceful herbivore.
It helps the ecosystem by spreading seeds, controlling plant growth, and is an expert climber and swimmer.
A true symbol of the tropical jungle.

El Corytophanes cristatus, conocido como camaleón de casco, llegó a formar parte de los ecosistemas costarricenses gracias a la evolución en las selvas tropicales de América Central. Este reptil, maestro del camuflaje, se ha adaptado perfectamente al entorno de Manuel Antonio, donde se mezcla con los troncos y ramas como si fuera parte del paisaje. The mysterious helmeted lizard
The Corytophanes cristatus, also known as the helmeted lizard, became part of Costa Rica’s ecosystems thanks to evolution in the tropical forests of Central America. Mariposa Búho (Caligo atreaus)

Estas mariposas son conocidas por los patrones de “ojos de búho” en sus alas, que les sirven como mecanismo de defensa. Los ojos falsos intimidan a los depredadores al imitar los ojos de un animal más grande.

These butterflies are known for the “owl eyes” patterns on their wings, which serve as a defense mechanism. The false eyes intimidate predators by mimicking the eyes of a larger animal.
