One of the things I love most about travel is that it’s so deeply personal.
Sometimes a dream destination begins with a movie, a song, a photo, or a breathtaking landscape. Other times, it starts with something as simple as… a free hat.
About nine years ago, my husband, went to Seattle for work and came home with a free Seattle Mariners hat. It sat in our closet for years until my son randomly decided to start wearing it. Somewhere along the way, he declared himself a Mariners fan.
Last year, when the Blue Jays were playing in Seattle, he asked for a Mariners jersey for Christmas and mentioned that one day he’d love to go to Seattle to watch the Mariners play the Jays, his second favourite team.
After a little schedule juggling, we decided to make it happen and surprised him with a family trip to Seattle.
We spent a few days exploring Pike Place Market, cheering at the baseball game, strolling the waterfront, and simply enjoying time together as a family. Watching my son experience a city he’d dreamed of visiting for so long was every bit as special as the destination itself.
It’s a reminder that travel isn’t just about checking places off a bucket list. It’s about the stories that inspire us to go and the memories we create once we get there.
That’s one of my favourite parts of being a travel advisor, helping turn those little sparks of inspiration into unforgettable experiences.
