Amazing day on the water with Caroline and her family!

They joined us on August 15th and made the most of their day offshore, going 1 for 1 on Pacific sailfish and adding 3 yellowfin tuna to the catch! 🔥🐟

Great fishing, great company, and another unforgettable family adventure in Quepos, Costa Rica. 🇨🇷

Awesome day on the water with Kevin Mckenna and Erin! 🎣🔥

The bite definitely made us work for it today. We missed four good fish, but we still managed to put this beautiful roosterfish in the boat on topwater!

We started the morning slow trolling along the beach, and thanks to Zacary Calderón for firing out a Tico Angler topwater plug, we got the explosion we were looking for and landed this rooster. 💥🐓

As the day went on, Kevin had an incredible bite on a live lookdown. The fish was hooked and pulling hard, but somehow managed to come off. We moved to another rock where Kevin hooked another nice fish while slow pitch jigging, same story, it came unbuttoned. At the next spot, we had two more solid bites, reels screaming… and somehow lost both of those too!

That’s fishing. You can’t win them all, but the bites, the screaming reels, and a rooster on topwater made it one heck of a day!

Thanks Kevin and Erin for fishing hard with us!

What a mixed bag yesterday! 🎣🔥

Two mahi-mahi, two yellowfin tuna, and two triple tail made for an awesome day on the water.

There’s just something special about mahi, the colors, the speed, the jumps, and the aggressive bite make them one of the most exciting fish to target offshore. And when you find them, you never know what’s going to happen next!

Another great day fishing out of Quepos, Costa Rica aboard the Rambo 27. 🇨🇷

Cubera snapper! One of our favorite fish in the ocean.
They’re powerful, aggressive, and one of the most incredible inshore species we have here in Costa Rica.

But that’s exactly why we need to take care of them.

Let’s practice catch and release, especially with the bigger fish. Let’s promote sustainable fishing and make sure these incredible fish are still here for the next generation of anglers.

As captains and fishing guides, we have a huge responsibility. We’re not just here to put people on fish, we also have a responsibility to protect the fishery that gives us so much.

Catch it. Respect it. Release it. Let it grow. 🤙🎣

Andrew and Melanie joined us today for a Half-Day Whale Watching & Fishing Combo! 🐬🎣

We headed offshore looking for whales and found a couple of dolphin pods along the way, but unfortunately, the whales didn’t make an appearance today.

We came across a beautiful current line loaded with debris and flying fish, it looked absolutely perfect for mahi, but despite working it hard, nobody was home.

So we changed plans and headed inshore to try our luck with one of Costa Rica’s most iconic game fish, and got our roosterfish! 🐓🔥

To finish the trip, we cruised along the Manuel Antonio coastline, showing Andrew and Melanie some of the beautiful beaches and scenery that make this area so special.

No whales and no mahi today, but that’s fishing! A great morning on the water with dolphins, a roosterfish, and some incredible views of Manuel Antonio. 🌴🌊

Huge tripletail on the fly! 🎣🔥

Coming from a freshwater fly-fishing background, Sean landed his personal best fish on the fly rod with this beautiful tripletail!

It had been a slow day, but everything changed when we found a current line with some trees and floating debris. We spotted several tripletail hanging around the logs, but getting them to eat was another story.

After several shots, this one finally committed, and gave Sean an incredible fight on the fly rod!

Sometimes all it takes is one fish to completely change the day. What a way to set a new personal best! 🤙

Awesome day on the water with our friends Xavier and Carlie! Our mission was to get some fish on the fly, and we made it happen.

The morning started off hot, catching a bunch of smaller mahi mahi on the fly. Later, we found a floating log holding some massive tripletail. Sight casting to this 18+ pound fish was incredible. He moved slowly and wasn’t very interested, but we had a couple slow follows where he came right up to the fly just to inspect it. We probably could’ve spent another 1.5 hours trying to convince him to eat, but he never fully committed.

After that, we pushed farther offshore looking for a sailfish. We raised several fish, but they would only come up, check out the teasers, and disappear.

Xavier’s dream was to catch a roosterfish. The inshore bite had been tough the last few days, and the waves were big, but we still had a few live baits left… and right at sunset, we finished the day with this beautiful roosterfish.

Incredible day overall — nonstop action, amazing weather, and beautiful conditions on the ocean.
