When palm trees aren't always the best babysitters for macaws! 🌴🐣

Macaws have a thing for palm trees. They're tall, they offer some shade, and hey, they seem like perfect nesting spots 🪹 But here’s the thing: those palm trees, as lovely as they look, aren’t always the strongest choice for our feathered friends. Sometimes, they’re a little too wobbly, and before you know it, whoosh—the whole tree comes down!

And when those trees fall, our little Macaw chicks are at risk, especially during those days when the weather decides to throw a tantrum—strong winds, storms, you name it! 🌬️ But don’t worry, our amazing team is out there, keeping a close eye on the nests in the wild. If a nest ever gets destroyed or the chicks are in danger, we’re on it, ready to swoop in and rescue the little ones 🦜💕

We’re here to make sure that no Macaw gets left behind, no matter how stormy things get. After all, every little chick deserves a safe, cozy home—even if it's not a palm tree! 💚

Our latest 10/10 review on VRBO, "Often, you see photos on VRBO that look better than the real property. In this case, the property lived up to -- and exceeded -- the description. To begin with, the view of the ocean and surrounding countryside is stunning, and when you open the folding back doors, you connect the inside of the house to all that beauty. Every day from around the property we could see monkeys, iguanas, and of course, Macaws. The pool was luxurious. The kitchen was well stocked with all utensils. Louis met us onsite for check-in and was responsive to our every need, both before and during our stay. I can't say enough good things about Casa Macaw."

Important to know!

Macaws are thriving but still facing big challenges 🦜🍃

Thanks to years of dedicated conservation efforts, many macaw populations are growing in the wild, showing that we can make a difference when we work together 🌱💚

However, their journey isn’t over yet. While these vibrant birds are finding new hope, they still face significant threats that could halt their progress:

🌳 Habitat Loss: As forests are cleared for agriculture and development, macaws lose the safe spaces they need to thrive. Their homes are vanishing, and they need us to protect what’s left.

🚨 Illegal trade: Despite strong efforts to stop it, poaching and the illegal pet trade remain a major challenge. Capturing macaws for sale harms their populations and disrupts their natural behavior.

🌡️ Climate change: Rising temperatures and changing weather patterns impact the food sources and nesting sites macaws depend on. Their survival is directly tied to the health of the ecosystems they call home.

The good news is that we’re seeing growth in wild populations thanks to conservation efforts, and with your help, we can ensure this success continues! 💚
