MISSING MOTORCYCLIST - LATEST UPDATE

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office is saddened to report that the missing motorcyclist, Ian Gililland, who was the subject of the search along Highway 12 has been located today by the Idaho State Police. He was found deceased.
The individual was located today along Highway 12 near milepost 161.
We would like to thank the Idaho State Police, Idaho County Search and Rescue, Idaho County Posse, Grangeville Mountain Rescue, Idaho Fish & Game and the many volunteers who assisted with the search.
Our thoughts are with the individual’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Ian Gililland has been missing for several days after setting out on a motorcycle trip along U.S. Highway 12 between Missoula, Montana, and Lewiston, Idaho.
Ian’s last known contact was at 4:19 p.m. on July 29, when he sent a photo of the campsite shown below. Since then, no one has heard from him.
The Idaho State Police located the campsite pictured below as Investigators found:
* One water bottle left at the campsite.
* A second water bottle in the fire pit.
* No motorcycle.
* No tire tracks continuing beyond the campsite.
Search and Rescue teams are actively involved, and the investigation is ongoing.
Ian is riding a 2025 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide.
If you, or anyone you know, will be traveling U.S. Highway 12 between Missoula and Lewiston, please keep an eye out for Ian, his motorcycle, or anything that seems unusual along the route. Even the smallest detail could make a difference.
The Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police are working diligently on this case, but additional eyes along the route could be invaluable.
