This Tapir Day, we shine a light on the danta, the largest land mammal in Costa Rica.​
​
Shy, peaceful, and essential to the ecosystem, tapirs play a key role in seed dispersal, helping forests regenerate and thrive.​
​
Fun Fact: Tapirs are excellent swimmers and can even use their flexible snout as a snorkel while moving underwater.​
​
They are often spotted in Valle del Tapir, near Tenorio Volcano, a region rich in biodiversity and natural beauty.​
​
Protecting them means protecting the balance of nature itself.​
​
