The Jurassic jungle 🌴🦕⁣

Bajos del Toro is a region of Costa Rica a short drive north from San Jose. ⁣
⁣
The area boasts Jurassic Park vibes, with deep, narrow canyons, plunging waterfalls, hanging valleys, dense rainforests, and wild jungles.⁣

It’s a larger-than-life reflection of the locations depicted in the Jurassic Park movies. 🦖🎥🍿⁣

There are over 6,000 species of reptiles in Costa Rica, but one you're almost sure to see when you visit is the Green Iguana, pictured here. 🦎 🐊 🐍 ⁣
⁣
There is one other species of iguana, a bit less common, but still plentiful: the Spiny Tailed Iguana. ⁣
⁣
This Green Iguana crossed our path while leaving the beach near Uvita. We got a good look at him before he scurried off and climbed a tree. ⁣

Nose to tail, he was a little over 1 meter long. 🦎🌴🌿⁣
⁣
Spotting wildlife is one of the joys of visiting Costa Rica 🌴🥭🌤️🌺🍃🇨🇷 ⁣

If you haven’t heard of Manuel Antonio National Park, let this be your introduction. 🌴🌊⁣
⁣
Located in the central Pacific zone of Costa Rica, It’s a relatively small national park, but it’s the most visited in the country. ⁣
⁣
And with good reason. 😍🌴⁣
⁣
As you can see, it’s a lush, rainforest lined with pristine beaches. 🏝️⁣
⁣
The park itself has guided tours and hiking trails that are easy to navigate and well groomed. ⁣
⁣
Wildlife thrives here, but we recommend a guided tour to see it. You will likely notice and see a lot more. 🐒 🦥 🦜🌴⁣

One of things I love about Costa Rica is the changes in weather. ⁣

I love the sunshine ☀️ ⁣
But I also love the cloudy mist and rain, as shown in this photo 🌫️☔️⁣

I love that I can experience both in a single day ☀️⛅️⛈️⁣

I love the diversity in microclimates throughout the country. ⁣

Hot & humid at the beach 🥵🏖️ ⁣
Drive up into the hills just a few minutes and its cooler with a nice ocean breeze 🌴😌⁣

Go into the highlands and the mountain country and it can get downright cold, especially at night 🥶⁣

All this in a country barely the size of West Virginia! ⁣
