Monteverde stands as one of Costa Rica’s most iconic destinations, renowned for its cloud forest—an extraordinary ecosystem defined by cool temperatures, constant mist, and lush humidity that supports remarkable biodiversity. Here, visitors may encounter sloths, monkeys, coatis, hummingbirds, toucans, and, on special occasions, the iconic resplendent quetzal.

During our recent 4-day visit, we had the privilege of spotting a beautiful pair of quetzals at Treetopia Park Monteverde. This coincides with their nesting season (February to June), when they descend to more accessible areas of the cloud forest to breed. During this time, pairs work together—one guarding the nest while the other forages, mainly feeding on wild fruits such as aguacatillo.

Some of the most popular experiences in the area include guided cloud forest hikes, hanging bridges, canopy/zipline adventures, night walks for wildlife observation, and coffee, chocolate, and sugarcane tours—making Monteverde a must-visit destination for nature and adventure enthusiasts. 🌿🇨🇷

Puerto Jiménez – where wild Costa Rica begins 🌿🇨🇷

Located on the Osa Peninsula, Puerto Jiménez is the gateway to Corcovado National Park, one of the most biodiverse places on Earth.

This region is home to one of the largest populations of scarlet macaws in the world, along with an extraordinary variety of wildlife including monkeys, sloths, and tapirs.

The ocean remains warm year-round (26–30°C / 78–86°F), ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and marine activities.

Whale watching seasons:
July–October and December–March

Puerto Jiménez is also an excellent destination for sport fishing, with opportunities to catch roosterfish, tuna, mahi-mahi, and seasonal sailfish.

We offer tours to Corcovado from Puerto Jiménez:

- By land (La Leona sector)

- By boat (Sirena station)

Additional experiences in the area include snorkeling at Caño Island, mangrove tours, kayaking, rainforest hikes, and night walks.
