🇺🇸The South Pacific of Costa Rica is a biodiversity hotspot both on land and sea. Its waters are the nursery for many species of aquatic animals such as hammerhead sharks, bull sharks, tiger sharks, humpback whales and sea turtles.

Mangrove forests are ecosystems of equal importance for migratory bird species. Finally, its tropical rainforests are the home of a great number of living beings.

How important is the conservation and good management of natural resources of the Pacific South of Costa Rica to guarantee a future for our new generations and preserve one of the last gems of the world.

🇨🇷 El sur Pacifico de Costa Rica es un hotspot en biodiversidad tanto en mar como tierra. Sus aguas son la guardería de muchos especies de animales acuáticos como tiburones ma****los , tiburones toros , tiburones tigres , ballenas jorobadas y tortugas marinas.

Los bosques de manglar son ecosistemas de igual importancia para especie de aves migratorias. para finalizar sus bosques tropicales lluviosos alberga gran sin número de seres vivientes .

Que importante es la conservación y el buen manejo de recursos naturales de el sur pacifico de Costa Rica para garantizar un futuro para nuestras nuevas generaciones y preservar una de las últimas gemas del mundo.

🇺🇸The scalloped hammerhead shark (Sphyrna lewini) is listed as globally endangered on the IUCN’s Red List. The principal conservation problem facing this species is its population decline. This problem, driven by the high economic value of its fins and the consumption of its meat, has led to the species being overfished during all stages of its life.

The conservation of this species is of utmost importance for the well-being of the oceans. The change and creation of laws that protect sharks, stopping the demand for their meat are steps that must be taken as soon as possible.

🇨🇷El tiburón ma****lo común (Sphyrna lewini) está catalogado como en peligro de extinción a nivel mundial en la Lista Roja de la UICN. El principal problema de conservación que enfrenta esta especie es la disminución de su población. Este problema, impulsado por el alto valor económico de sus aletas y el consumo de su carne, ha llevado a la sobrepesca de la especie en todas las etapas de su ciclo de vida.

La conservacion de esta especie es de suma importancia para el bienestar de los oceanos. el cambio y creacion de leyes que protejan los tiburones, parar con la demanda de su carne son pasos que se deben de accionar lo mas antes posible.

🇺🇸 This species is probably the most common to see in the Pacific of Costa Rica, however its conservation status lists it as endangered.
Incidental fishing, the plastic that is mistaken for food by them and the illegal extraction of their eggs for human consumption are some of the main reasons for the decline of their populations.

Currently there are conservation programs and organizations that are dedicated to a better understanding of reproductive cycles, migratory routes and jointly work with local communities to achieve better conservation of this and other species of sea turtles.

🇨🇷 Esta especie es probablemente la más común de ver en el Pacífico de Costa Rica, sin embargo, su estado de conservación la cataloga como en peligro de extinción.
La pesca incidental, el plástico que ellos confunden con comida y la extracción ilegal de sus huevos para el consumo humano son algunas de las principales razones del declive de sus poblaciones.
Actualmente existen programas y organizaciones de conservación que se dedican a un mejor conocimiento de los ciclos reproductivos, rutas migratorias y trabajan en conjunto con las comunidades locales para lograr una mejor conservación de esta y otras especies de tortugas marinas.

🇺🇸 The Pacific of Costa Rica has one of the largest population of S. longirostris, however, tuna fishery has been the main reason why eastern tropical pacific population has declined 80 percent in 20 years from 2 million to 400,000.
It is of crucial importance that local governments take fisheries regulation measures in the following years before it is too late.
The determination of responsible fishing areas and the creation of marine biological corridors between protected areas in Costa Rica are points in which work should be done as soon as possible to achieve the protection of marine species such as spinner dolphins.

🇨🇷 El Pacífico de Costa Rica tiene una de las poblaciones más grandes de S. longirostris, sin embargo, la pesca de atún ha sido la razón principal por la que la población del Pacífico tropical oriental ha disminuido un 80 por ciento en 20 años de 2 millones a 400.000.

Es de vital importancia que los gobiernos locales tomen medidas de regulación pesquera en los próximos años antes de que sea demasiado tarde.

La determinación de áreas de pesca responsable y la creación de corredores biológicos marinos entre áreas protegidas en Costa Rica son puntos en los que se debe trabajar lo antes posible para lograr la protección de especies marinas como los delfines giradores.
