Rettertag - Christi Himmelfahrt

Heute feiern wir den Schutzpatron von Belgrad. An diesem Tag im Jahr 1403 erklärte der Despot Stefan Lazarević Belgrad zur Hauptstadt.

Symbolisch zeigt die Himmelfahrt an - die Himmelfahrt der Stadt, mit dem Glauben an eine bessere Zukunft.

An diesem Tag feiert die serbisch-orthodoxe Kirche die Himmelfahrt des Herrn, die Erinnerung an den Tag, an dem Jesus Christus der Erzählung zufolge am 40. Tag nach der Auferstehung seinen Schüller erschien und dann in den Himmel auffuhr.

Savior's Day - Ascension of Christ

Patron saint's feast of Belgrade. On this day in 1403, despot Stefan Lazarević declared Belgrade the capital of Serbia.

Symbolically indicates the ascension - the Ascension of the city, with faith in a better future.

On this day, the Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates the Ascension of the Lord, the memory of the day when, according to the story, Jesus Christ appeared to his disciples on the 40th day after the Resurrection, and then ascended to heaven.

An informal Belgrade crew from the New Belgrade blocks' hood and other parts of town has gathered around the idea of beautifying their city by painting Savski Quey with the pictures of the animals which live there and along the Sava embankment.

Exactly 42 years ago, on this day at 15:05, Josip Broz Tito passed away. He was a lifetime president of communist Yugoslavia.

His funeral was attended by 209 delegations from 128 countries of the world, including 31 presidents, 8 vice presidents, 4 kings, 6 princes, 22 prime ministers, 12 vice presidents, 47 foreign ministers and 11 assembly presidents. It was one of the largest funerals of a statesman in recent history, as he was respected in the whole world, and so was Yugoslavia. When we look back from what we are today, we all know what we were the avanguarde.
