These last few days, thousands of Serbian Orthodox believers have been waiting in long lines in front of the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade.
The reason is extraordinary: the Belt of the Most Holy Mother of God, one of the holiest relics in Orthodox Christianity has arrived from Mount Athos and is being displayed for worship. The relic normally remains inside the Vatopedi Monastery and only very rarely leaves Mount Athos.
And while today people stand in prayer inside Saint Sava Church, many don’t know that during World War II, after construction was interrupted in 1941, the unfinished interior of the church was used by N**i forces as a parking space for tanks and military trucks.
From occupation and war… to one of the biggest gatherings of faith in modern Serbia. This church has witnessed history.
SLAVA BOGU!
