This gloomy and difficult day, we bring you an interesting story about one of the most famous painting by Ilija Bašičević Bosilja-Bačinački brest. As a young man, Ilija was a shepherd. He spent days and nights in the Bosut forests. In those nights, shepherds talked the stories. Ilija listened to stories, real and even more often unrealistic. And the story goes like this: During the First World War, a soldier returned from the front and somewhere near Sid, tired of walking, he lay down under an old tree. It was a famous Bacinacki elm. When he fell asleep, a group of girls in long white dresses appeared, and they played around him. One of them came and asked them to play, gave them bagpipe, and they played all night. When the first c***s were heard, the fairies disappeared, the soldier woke up, and in his mouth was a foot of a kid. And that's how the famous painting came out.

Near Berkasovo there are traces of the fortified city of Berkasovo, which is known in the sources as Castrum Berekszo. This fortress is also called Despotovac. There is very little information about the origin and history of this place. We know that she was in the possession of despot Vuk Grgurević and then his sons of the last Branković, Đorđe (monk Maksim) and Jovan. The Russian court in Sid, as the summer residence of Vasilija Božičković, bishop of the newly established United Diocese, was erected around 1780. The building as a stationary cultural asset has the status of a cultural monument of great importance. The Diocese of Križevci was founded in 1777, and since 1920, until the year 2002, it was the monastery of Vasilijanka's nuns in the building, and in the post-war years an orphanage and boarding school. At the beginning of the third decade of the 20th century there was a monastery of Greek Catholic nuns (Rusina), while during the Second World War there was a partisan hospital in the building. Within the rectangular one-storey building typical for the second half of the 18th century, the church was housed in the southern tract.

Данас је одржана манифестација "8. Сремски ручак чобански" у организацији Удружења грађана Сремски ручак чобански, МЗ Бачинци, Општине Шид, Културно образовног центра Шид и Туристичке организације Шид. Манифестацију је отворио председник Скупштине општине Шид, Велимир Ранисављевић, док је присутне поздравио домаћин, Ивица Рацановић. Током манифестације одржано је такмичење за децу у пецању, петобој за жене и мушкарце и најважније, такмичење у кувању овчијег паприкаша. Победницима су уручене пригодне награде. Посетиоци су имали прилику посетити изложбу кунића, голубова и украсне живине, пробати традиционална јела која су припремила удружења жена, уживати у културно-уметничком програму или у вожњи фијакером.
