Day 7. I can’t believe it was our last day!!! Man did we pack it in! We started the day with a visit to the Nostalgic Car Garage where we learned the owner’s story and saw the operation in full swing. We got to ride in the classic 50’s cars through Havana. Next we went to an artisan market for a little souvenir shopping! We had lunch then visited the home of a local artist. Her work was beautiful! Then we learned how to play dominoes from the master Mike Domino🤣. After dominoes, we headed to see the Cuban National Hotel. It was gorgeous and even had peacocks like PV! We ended the afternoon with a visit to the Factory Art Gallery. Dinner was at Cha Cha Cha which was super fun! We were supposed to see a show after dinner at the Buena Vista Social Club but a blackout forced us to change our plan. Our guides pivoted so quickly and saved the evening with ice cream, live music, dancing and more. It was impressive for sure!

Day 6
Today we traveled from Remedios to Havana with a few stops along the way. First stop was in Santa Clara where we walked the town square and visited the Mengurje theater where we watched performances by singers, musicians and actors from the community. Our next stop was the Che Guevara museum. We ended the day back in Havana. We had time to visit the famous Floridita where Hemingway frequented back in the day. Lastly, we had an amazing dinner on the coast.

Days 4 & 5
Yesterday we traveled from Trinidad to Remedios with stops at Sancti Spíritus and Iznaga tower. Todat was a full day! We started with a visit to the Parranda Museum where we learned all about tradition of the festival of Parranda. Next we took a taxi bike tour through the city of Remedios to the baseball stadium. There we met players and got to play baseball! After the game, we took the original steam train from 1916 to visit the old sugar mill which is now a museum. We had a wonderful guided tour with Santiago who has worked at the sugar mill his whole life. From there we went to a local farm for a traditional family style lunch with some music - and singing by our tour guide Juan Carlos. After lunch we did a quick stop in Cailbarien which had beautiful buildings but felt a bit like a ghost town.

Day 3: Today we explored Trinidad at a pottery factory and then a city tour. We went into the mountains to visit a farm and meet several local families. Then we had some time to rest, relax, and enjoy the ocean and pool at our hotel. Great day of getting an in depth exploration of Cuba’s culture, history, and people!

Last day!: Our last morning we went to find Deig bakery that was featured in Somebody Feed Phil. After eating our delicious doughnuts, we walked around Reykjavík to do some shopping. Before heading back to the hotel, we stopped in at Le C**k, another restaurant from Somebody Feed Phil (great show!) for a burger. Definitely worth the stop. Got to explore Reykjavík a bit more, and then it was off to the airport and headed home. So thankful to have had the opportunity to visit this amazing county!

We started the day visiting the Hellisheidi geothermal power plant. Wow! Incredible things happening here! Next up, the
Friðheimar Greenhouse. An amazing facility for tomato production. So incredible and super delicious. We had lunch then visited the Gullfoss waterfall. It was spectacular! As if that were not enough, we were then dazzled by the remarkable Strokkur geysir. Just like old faithful, it was super fun to anticipate and watch the eruption. Our last activity was a hike through Iceland’s National
Park. What a day! So much to see and learn.
