LOVE STORY (part 1 of 3) -chapter- REUNITED & REDIVIDED. You know why it’s called a Love STORY? Because it ends.
It’s been one month since I’ve lost you, Uško, and your parting taught me as much as you being with me.
It was a major wake up call for me. You confronted me with the “life fact” that TOMORROW IS NOT GRANTED AT ALL and that there’s a very fine line between Life & Death. We all know it, but usually we don’t take it in all seriousness that it implies,or we don’t apply it to all areas of our life. Like me (story climax in the 3 of 3 story part).
When I finally succeeded to literally “smuggle you” after 2 longest COVID & life-circumstances generated years apart from Cuba to Europe in April 2021, I believed that we’ve past the hardest part. That it’s our HAPPY ENDING and we’ll live HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
You were my dream partner, and once I had you here with me, we were inseparable. There was no longer ME, it was US - cooking, Ikea shopping, gardening, apartment finishing, Netflix watching, river rafting, snowboarding, swimming, partying, clothes choosing… I never left you home alone and it’s not because you would bark or do something “doggy dodgy”. Quite contrary. You were the best behaved untrained Havana street-smart dog that I could ever dream of. Being in your company was a total bliss, and I wanted to enjoy every possible moment together.
Till death tear us apart, I saw you by my side for as long as “genetic clock” allows. The right time for saying you “a farewell to heaven” would be in about a decade, when you would have more than 15 dog or more than 100 human years.
“If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans,” said once famously Woody Allen, and he was damn right. I mean, the man that married his adopted daughter does know something about the unpredictability of life! Right?
So this “European-dream of ours” lasted less than 5 months and I lost you literally from one day to another. Against all the odds. You were a mixed pup that was street-raised and those are more resilient than the pure bred pu***es! You were less than 5 years old! Plus, you were a tough Cuban boy! Who is better prepared to endure the life’s hardship than a Cuban?
