In response the government have recently started relaxing constraints on its peoples. For the first time in several generation Cubans can now own their own property, engage in private enterprise and talk to visitors…

No one knows where this will take Cuba in the longer term but for now it means that its never been easier to visit Cuba, enjoy the best the country has to offer, and interact with the locals. For these reasons and after 10 years waiting on the sidelines, Jakera have finally decided to take the plunge and offer our student clients the opportunity to come to Cuba - to learn Spanish, volunteer and enjoy one of the most unique and exciting countries on the planet.

El Cristo del Morro - Built in 1958 the construction of the sculpture is based on a promise made by Fulgencio Batista’s wife when the Presidential Palace was assaulted with the intention of killing him in 1957. His wife Jilma Madera made at that time the promise to build the image of a Christ that could be seen from any point of the city if her husband was saved, as it finally happened.

🇨🇺 The mogotes of Viñales are made up of limestone rocks, the oldest in the archipelago, more than 120 million years old and in which innumerable caves are found, originated by the action of rivers and groundwater. These elevations are characterized by having a rounded structure, similar to that of a tower, with a height that can exceed 100 meters, and with a diameter that varies between 10 and 200 meters. ⛰️

La Habana Vieja 🕰️ travel back and time and explore the historic center of the city. Formed by a harbor El Malecón and colorful plazas all kinds of picturesque monuments, fortresses, churches and palaces 🕌

Founded in the 1519 by the Spanish by the 17th century it became one of the Caribbean’s main centers for ship building. It’s old center retains an interesting mix of Baroque and neoclassical architecture.
