Makronissos Beach, Ayia Napa Wednesday 15th July 2026. Though rewind to 52 years ago none or very little of this existed here.

Why you may ask? 🤔 52 years ago on this day, a Greek Foreign Army (yes, Greek isn't Cypriot thus it's Foreign) overthrew the Government of Archbishop Makarios. This led to the first invasion of Cyprus 5 days later, followed by a second within a month. Now what led to all these events is a matter for other places, not here.

Ayia Napa and Protaras, have evolved from the occupation of Varosi (Famagusta) and Kerynia over the years.The reasons and whys and accusations belong to other places to discuss as said.😉

So, whilst you holiday on the East Coast, a little bit of knowledge doesn't do any harm.

The current conditions at 14.25 on 3rd April. 😉

The early orange dust isn't so intense though the wind speed has increased immensely. Expected to reach 42kmh. 🫥

Temperature supposedly 18c though the wind will make it feel cooler.

This cat isn't in good health compared to the rest. Found just after the Church on the seafront walkway (past Anmarie Hotel).
