🇨🇾 Cypriot donkeys — a unique showcase of Cyprus! 🫏

Not many people know that Cypriot donkeys are among the largest donkey breeds in the world! 🤯
Adults can reach up to 140 cm at the withers, which is impressive compared to many other, much smaller donkey breeds.

✨ Fun facts about Cypriot donkeys:

🛖 History & tradition:
For centuries they were an essential part of daily life on the island. They were used to transport goods, water and olives, and to help farmers in the rough, mountainous terrain.

🚜 Agricultural helpers:
Before cars and machinery arrived, donkeys were literally the ones “powering” the Cypriot countryside and local economy.

❤️ Today:
Most of them now live peacefully in protected areas, and visitors can observe them up close. They’ve become a symbol of the island and its cultural heritage.

Flamingos in Paralimni! 🦩

Winter in Cyprus can be surprisingly exciting. One of the attractions you can experience only outside the summer season are… flamingos! 🦩
These beautiful birds spend the winter on salt lakes, mainly in Larnaca and Akrotiri.

Great news for those who don’t have Larnaca or Limassol on their way — for the past few weeks a large group of flamingos can also be admired in Paralimni, just a short drive from Ayia Napa and Protaras! 🗺️
A brand-new viewing tower has also been built there, making bird watching even easier.

🚍 Getting there from Ayia Napa and Protaras is simple — just take bus 101, and return with 102.
