Café NO8 Gloria Jean’s at EUL Campus

For this week I have visited the second Gloria Jean’s coffee shop located on campus of European University of Lefke. We all got an idea of Gloria Jean’s basic information from the previous post so let’s get into my experience of this week. First of all, the location was very convenient as a student who spend a lot of time on campus. And this place is little more quiet comparing to the other cafés, great for concentrating if you are working.

Comfortability- You can see the counter area as you enter the café, and the tables placed around the room with cushions and little wooden chairs. They also have seating area on the outside with big white chairs on the grass, which the view and the smell of the grass is incredible.

Product- I tried their Iced Creme Brule latte this week, which was very enjoyable on a hot summer day, it tasted just like a Creme Brule but had a nice hint of coffee.

Café NO7 Raccoon Coffee shop/Restaurant

Raccoon coffee shop is another popular coffee shop located near LAU. This place not only serve coffee beverages and bakeries but also serve food such as pizza, doner, burgers etc… Raccoon coffee shop is also a busy place during the evening with students gathering and doing their projects together. Their interior is very spacious, perfect for a birthday party or doing group projects with your teammates.

Comfortability- Raccoon coffee shop has 3 different choices of seating. First, they have the outer seating area with comfy cushions, second, they have the main seating area in front of the cashier, and thirdly, they have the upstairs seats which is a little more quiet area, perfect for concentrating.

Products- This week, I have purchased their Iced Toffeenut latte. The Iced Toffeenut latte had a very nice nutty taste but also had a strong taste of coffee while not being too sweet.

Café NO6 MOAR café

Moar is a new café that opened its door early this year. The interior design is very modern and abstract. The lightning and decorations gives this place a very nice vibe. It is also located right by the seaside which is pleasant when seated outside. This café is located near Ağdaş market, right across the street. It has become a very popular café spot since the opening around Lefke. As it is filled with university students every day from morning to night.

Comfortability- As mentioned before, Moar is a nicely decorated and new place. They have mostly wooden and metal seats and comfy sofas. As you enter through the front door you can see the menu, bakeries and the cashier.

Product- I have tested their Cream puff and Iced Coconut Latte this week. The Iced Coconut Latte had many options you can choose from as you can see from the menu. Both my purchases were very tasty, the Cream Puff had nice and soft filling inside as well as a dark chocolate drip on top. And the Iced Coconut Latte had a light hint of coconut not too much nor too little, just the right amount.

Café NO5 Amazing cakes café

Amazing cakes café is also a recently opened little coffee shop/bakery located near Kiler supermarket in Lefke. All the baked goods are made in the café by a lovely lady daily. Perfect to visit for a lunch or a snack at any time.

Comfortability- The Amazing cakes café has a very hippie like decorations and design, with colorful graffiti signs. When you enter the café, you can see the fresh bakeries beside cashier counter. And the menu on the wall on a blackboard. This cafe also has a pool table that costs 15TL per game.

Products- This week I have tried their sausage roll. Over all I liked it very much, the freshly baked warm soft bread with sausage inside.

Café NO4 Mug&Bean

Mug&Bean is a very popular café among the students of European University of Lefke. It is located only 200m away from the main school gate. What makes this place special would be their various choice of board games that you can play with your friends, books to read and they also got blankets that you can use if you are chilly. This week I have tried their Ice Strawberry Chocolate and Strawberry Cheesecake. They work from 9AM to 11PM.

Comfortability- When you enter the café, first you’ll see the outdoor sitting area. As you go further, you’ll see the countertop area with their menu written on the board and cakes and desserts sitting beside. Their interior is very interesting, the outside and inside sitting areas look very different from each other. While the outside sitting area has metal table and chairs and brick walls, inside seats has wooden furniture and colorful graffiti. Both very comfortable.

Product- Both Ice Strawberry Chocolate and Strawberry Cheesecake were very decent. The Ice strawberry chocolate did seem a little watery, not that rich in taste. While the strawberry cheese cake was very nice and creamy.

Price range- Ice Strawberry Chocolate- 55 TL

Café NO3 Ertas Garden Café

Ertas Garden café is a brand new café/restaurant opened January of 2022, located about 1,6km away from European university of Lefke, beside the road. If you are coming from the University you can also take the number 1 (Yedidalga) school bus. What makes this café so special would definitely be the beautiful sea view. This week we tried their Iced latte and Zebra Mocha.
Comfortability- When you enter the café you can see the counter area with beverages arranged behind on the shelf, also a little fridge with their baked goods such as doughnuts and cakes. Their interior is completed with the nice little graffiti corner. The outside sitting area is directly facing the sea, perfect for just relax and sip coffee or have a nice little lunch and friend gatherings. I noticed their inner sitting area was reserved, as someone was planning a party later that day. So if you are planning a little birthday party or gatherings you can consider about Ertas café.
Staff- Friendly and helpful
Product- The Iced latte was very original and decent. Not too sour nor too sweet. As for the Zebra Mocha, it had a milky taste harmonizing with the sweetness.
Price range- 45-50 TL for the most of the coffee

Stay gold Coffee shop is a small business located near European University of Lefke, founded in 2022. Opens in the morning at 9AM, closes by 10PM. Me and my boyfriend have purchased the Matcha Tea Latte and Hot chocolate this week.

Comfortability- They had an indoor sitting area as well as the terrace-like outdoor sitting area both with beautiful retro styled decorations. As you enter the coffee shop, you can notice all the little details that will remind you a warm and comfortable little house, starting with the wooden door and furniture. Going into the hall, you will see a soft little sofa with the customers quotes hanging down and some unique wooden chandeliers. The outside sitting area has big wooden tables and chairs, perfect to meet your friends with.

Product- I have purchased the Matcha Tea Latte while my boyfriend got the Cappuccino. I was impressed to see the Matcha Latte on the menu because I haven’t seen a coffee shop serving matcha before in Lefke yet. The taste was very milky and a little bitter. I personally don’t like my drinks too sweet so it was fine, but if you enjoy sweet drinks you can add some sugar in it. My boyfriend has described the Hot chocolate “very sweet and coco powdery’’. Overall, the drinks were fine comparing the price range between other coffee shops. They also served alcoholic drinks too.

Price range- The price is comparably cheaper than the bigger coffee shops. Between 30-80 TL.

Café NO1 Gloria Jeans

Gloria Jean's Gourmet Coffee Pty Ltd is an American-Australian retail coffeehouse brand headquartered in Castle Hill, Sydney. The Global coffee shop has more than 599 stores in 40 countries, including over 140 in Australia. Founded in 1979 by Gloria Jean Kvetko, Ed Kvetko. The brand began as a small coffee and gift shop in the Chicago area. Has 2 branches in Lefke, 8 shops in North Cyprus including Lefke. Opens at 8AM, closes 12pm. I have purchased the White Chocolate Mocha with Extra whipped cream.

Staff- As there was not a lot of customers, they only had one barista working. The staff was friendly, he greeted us as we entered. He had suggestions about the menu. I personally prefer sweet drinks like smoothies, shakes and tea. So I choose the White Chocolate Mocha with extra whipped cream because the weather is still chilly. The cup was full when he served the drink and couldn’t add more whipped cream so he even gave me the extra whipped cream when the cup was half full.

Comfortability- They had the main coffee shop with the counter area and their products- such as coffee mugs, various tea selections. The interior had street art with wooden modern furniture. One thing that caught my eyes was the meeting room area (as not a lot of coffee shops have). Loved the interior and the wallpaper, had ceiling to floor windows to see the outside view, very clean and aesthetic. Across the road, they also have an outside sitting area. This area is perfect for the people who smoke. It had different types of plants growing, yellow barrels as tables, big cushions to sit on.

Product- I have purchased The White Chocolate Mocha (Tasted very chocolaty and rich. Had a lot of sugar in it. You can also order it with or without coffee). Not too impressed nor disappointed about the taste, but felt a little too sugary for my taste. I have searched about what are the most recommended coffees, which are Sugar Cookie Latte, Mudslide whole bean and Irish crème. Hopefully I will check the recommended coffees as well next time.

Price range- Between 47-95 TL. I think the price range was not cheap to compare it to the other cafes in Lefke. The cakes were all 75 TL, as well as the coffee price.
