These photos are beautiful and actually make the post feel much more authentic. The close-ups of the ancient, twisted trunk really show its age. I would make the caption more intimate and less like a travel fact sheet:

🌿 700 Years of Standing Still

There are olive trees in Cyprus that have been here for centuries.

This is the Ancient Olive Tree of Avdimou, an Olea europaea estimated to be around 700 years old and reaching about 5 metres high.

Standing beside it, you can't help but wonder what this tree has witnessed.

Generations have passed beneath its branches. Villages have changed. Roads have been built. People have come and gone.

And still, the tree remains.

Its enormous, twisted trunk almost looks like several trees growing together—and up close, every fold and hollow seems to tell its own story.

🌱 There are several ancient olive trees scattered across Cyprus, quietly standing in the countryside and sometimes surprisingly close to people's homes.

They aren't always marked on the usual tourist maps.

But perhaps that's what makes discovering them so special.

You stop. You look. You touch a tree that has been rooted in this land for hundreds of years.

And for a moment, you realise just how small one human lifetime really is.

Kyrenia (Girne) Castle – Over 800 Years of History

Standing at the entrance of Kyrenia's beautiful harbour, Girne Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in the Mediterranean. Built by the Byzantines and later expanded by the Lusignans, Venetians, and Ottomans, these walls have witnessed centuries of history, trade, and conquest.

Walking through the castle feels like stepping back in time. Inside, you'll find old stone passageways, courtyards, ancient cannons, and breathtaking views over the harbour and the Kyrenia mountain range. Every corner tells a story.

One of the castle's greatest treasures is the famous Kyrenia Shipwreck Museum, home to the remains of a Greek merchant ship that sank more than 2,300 years ago. It is considered one of the oldest shipwrecks ever discovered and offers a fascinating glimpse into life in the ancient Mediterranean.

After your visit, take a leisurely stroll around the picturesque harbour, where you can enjoy cafés, restaurants, and the peaceful atmosphere of one of Cyprus' most charming towns.

Don't forget to climb to the top of the castle walls for panoramic views of the harbour, the sea, and the mountains.

This is a community where we can support one another before, during, and after our travels.

The Ladies' Guesthouse – A Home Away From Home

Hidden behind a garden of flowers in the heart of Lefke is a simple house with a rich history. This is the Ladies' Guesthouse, where Sheikh Nazim (q) once lived.

Open to women and mothers with young children, the guesthouse welcomes visitors from all over the world. There is no charge to stay here. Instead, everyone contributes by helping with the daily upkeep, creating a home where service and consideration for others are part of everyday life.

This isn't luxury accommodation. Bedrooms and bathrooms are shared, and life here is simple. But what you gain is something far more valuable—the chance to meet sisters from different countries, share meals, conversations, laughter, and sometimes even lifelong friendships.

Like every dervish house, it is also a place of adab, patience, and self-improvement. Living together teaches us to serve, to give, and to grow. It can be a place of tests, but also a place of countless blessings.

For many sisters, this modest house becomes one of the most memorable parts of their journey to Lefke.
