​Today is Mother’s Day, and it feels only right to honor the "Mother" who watches over us all here: Matíčka Praha. 🇨🇿❤️

​In the Czech language, we affectionately call our city "Mother Prague." But she’s not your average mother. As the legendary Franz Kafka—Prague’s most famous and brooding son—once wrote:

​"Prague never lets you go… this dear little mother has sharp claws." 🦅📜

​It’s a hauntingly beautiful truth. Her "claws" are the golden spires that catch the sun, the narrow cobblestone alleys that whisper secrets, and the way the Vltava river reflects a thousand years of soul. Once she grabs hold of your heart, she never truly lets go. You leave, but a piece of you stays here forever. 🗝️✨

Happy Czech Day of Love! 🌸💖 While the rest of the world celebrates Valentine's Day in February, we Czechs know that the most romantic time of the year is May 1st! Tradition says you should be kissed under a blooming cherry (or birch) tree so you stay beautiful all year round. 🌳💋

If you are visiting Prague right now, you have to do this walk! Designed by a local Prague guide, this route takes you away from the heaviest crowds and straight into the most beautiful, blooming spots in the city.

Here is the exact route: 1️⃣ Start at the stunning Vrtbovská zahrada (Vrtba Garden). It’s about 150 CZK (~$6 USD) to enter, but climbing to the top Gloriette for the view of the rooftops is 100% worth it! 2️⃣ Take Tram 15 from Malostranské náměstí to the Čechův most stop. 3️⃣ Don't take the stairs! Walk up the path on the left—it's overflowing with sweet-smelling lilacs. 🪻 4️⃣ Take photos at the Hanavský Pavilion for that iconic multi-bridge shot. 📸 5️⃣ Cross over the Václav Havel bridge into Chotkovy sady and find a bench to just soak in the view of the city. 6️⃣ Slip through the little gate under Queen Anne's Summer Palace (Letohrádek královny Anny) into the Royal Garden. 7️⃣ End your romantic stroll walking past the Fig House (Fíkovna) and the historic Ball Game Hall (Míčovna). 🏛️

Prague Castle is hosting its annual Open Day. This is your chance to walk through the "Representative Rooms"—the stunning ceremonial halls where the Czech President receives world leaders. These interiors are usually closed to the public!

​2️⃣ SUNDAY, APRIL 19: Jewish Museum Open House

In honor of their 120th anniversary, the Jewish Museum is hosting "Open Synagogues Day." This is a once-in-a-decade style event where the entire museum circuit is open free of charge.

📍 Highlights: The hauntingly beautiful Old Jewish Cemetery, the Moorish-style Spanish Synagogue, and special guided tours.

⏰ When: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

💰 Cost: FREE

​Travel Tip: These events are very popular with locals and tourists alike. We recommend heading to the Castle first thing Saturday morning to enjoy the halls before the crowds peak!

💚 GREEN THURSDAY… but make it Czech 🍻💚

Yes, it’s basically Maundy Thursday…
But here in the Czech Republic, we’ve added a little upgrade 😏👇

🔔 Church bells? They “fly to Rome” (seriously!)
🪵 Kids replace them with noisy wooden rattles řehtačky
💸 And tradition says: don’t argue & don’t lend money today… or you’ll regret it all year

BUT let’s be honest — there’s one tradition everyone really follows:

🍺 👉 GREEN BEER 👈 🍺

Because nothing says “ancient Easter custom” quite like a group of happy people raising bright green pints together 😂💚

And yes, you’re supposed to eat something green for health…
We’re just… drinking it 😎
