One unforgettable week in Nayarit, Mexico, celebrating a big recognition for John Oberacker as he makes Montecito Village Travel ULTRA again, and for our agency and the incredible people behind it... with a little Emerald Coast exploration mixed in.

We discovered two gorgeous properties, the Siari, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve and Rosewood Mandarina , reconnected with industry friends, indulged in seriously good food, and experienced the kind of warm hospitality that makes Mexico so special. A little time in Portugal, taken slowly.

This solo trip began in the Alentejo, where pine trees, cork oaks, open landscapes, and the smell of the Atlantic seemed to set the pace immediately. There’s something about this region that makes you breathe a little deeper and notice a little more.

From there, a return to beautiful Lisbon, but this time with nowhere to rush to. Time to wander its streets, take in the architecture and art, linger over food, and appreciate the landscapes and, most of all, the warmth of its people.
A reminder that sometimes the best way to experience a place is simply to slow down and let it unfold.

London, you were utterly fabulous!

Back for a couple nights in Mayfair, surrounded by impeccable design, extraordinary art, and the kind of comfort that makes leaving rather difficult.

Cocktails, exceptional dinners, and then boarding the most glamorous train for an unforgettable Sunday afternoon. A perfectly indulgent finale to a spectacular London stay.

Three days in the Cotswolds, with nowhere in particular to be. We drove the country lanes slowly, letting the landscape dictate the itinerary, turning down promising roads, wandering charming villages, and lingering wherever there was something worth savoring.

Honey-coloured cottages, ancient manors, quiet rivers, rolling fields, unfussy pubs, and little shops filled with treasures. The magic of the Cotswolds isn’t any one landmark, but the rhythm of it all: wandering without hurry, noticing the details, and letting the countryside unfold at its own pace.

Three days, beautifully unhurried. Slow, savory, and quintessentially English.

Three nights immersed in history and luxury at one of the city’s most storied hotels, followed by a delicious whirlwind of global cuisine, beautifully crafted cocktails, and some seriously memorable bars.

We made time for culture, too! An incredible Schiaparelli exhibition at the V&A, the spectacular East Apartments of Buckingham Palace, and the brilliant musical, Cabaret, that had us thoroughly entertained. Add in plenty of fun shopping and wandering through some of London’s most iconic neighborhoods, and it was the perfect city escape.

Back at Lotusland after so many years, and what a beautiful reason to return.

It was an honor to celebrate their annual Garden Gala, Botanical Splendor, alongside our friends at El Encanto. Together, everyone attending shared the same vision of sustainability, beauty, and thoughtful stewardship in support of one of the most extraordinary gardens on earth.

As former members and lifelong lovers of garden & home design, this evening felt especially meaningful. It was inspiring to see the passion, creativity, and care that go into cultivating spaces that connect us so deeply with the natural world.

If you’ve never been to Lotusland, put it at the top of your list. It’s truly a place that has to be experienced to be believed.

As we continue exploring the world, we’re constantly inspired by our trusted local partners and the exceptional hotel partners that shape every journey. We believe how you travel and where you stay are just as important as what you see, eat, and do. The quiet morning coffee, the perfectly mixed cocktail after a long train ride, the architecture steeped in history, the incredible meals, and the people who welcome you like old friends are what turn a trip into something unforgettable.

Our third visit to Japan somehow made us fall even deeper in love with this incredible country. We thought we’d seen so much already, but the real magic happened when we ventured a little further off the beaten path.

We began in Tokyo at BVLGARI Tokyo, an elegant sanctuary above the city and the perfect place to unwind before setting off across Japan. In Toyama, Rakudo An, a beautifully restored 120-year-old farmhouse with just three guest rooms, offered a completely different experience. Surrounded by rice paddies and guided by its incredible steward, we explored nearby villages, discovered the beauty of Japan’s Mingei craftsmanship, and were reminded that true luxury is often found in authenticity.

Takayama brought us to Taniya, a restored century-old machiya where it felt less like checking into a hotel and more like stepping into Japan’s living history. In Kanazawa, Hyatt Centric was the perfect base for exploring a city overflowing with art, gardens, geisha culture, and unforgettable food. We ended in Osaka, eating and shopping our way through Japan’s vibrant kitchen before finishing with a memorable stay at Waldorf Astoria, where beautiful rooms, sweeping views, and exceptional hospitality made for the perfect finale.

Every destination gave us something different, every hotel became part of the story, and every experience reminded us why we travel—not to check places off a list, but to collect moments that change the way we see the world, and maybe even ourselves.

Japan, we’ll never stop coming back.
