Luxembourg has been on my list to tick off for a while now. Usually when I try to go something happens and blocks it and in typical fashion the curse continued.
Originally it was going to be our stop off on the way to Cologne, Germany 🇩🇪 however we then got told on the morning the puppy pick up was now in Antwerp, Belgium 🇧🇪
Refusing to let the bad situation get the better we powered through and took a 500km detour to Luxembourg just to say we’ve ticked it off ✅
Not the cheapest city in Europe as you can imagine being a tax haven, but worth every penny. What an incredible city. Super friendly locals, very picturesque, with plenty to do for a weekend city break.
💡 pro tip: all public transport is free, just hop on and off wherever. It’s super clean, punctual and runs all through the night we found
🍲 pro tip 2: try the local delicacy at Restaurant Um Dierfgen, absolutely unreal grub
🍺 pro tip 3: as you stroll down to Clausen (a fun party area of town) take a stop at Mirador for a halfway pint
We sank plenty of creamy Guinness at the Pyg Irish bar 🍀 and the proceeded to drink too many beers at the Rock Bar after… so walking the infamous Bock Casemates - a massive underground fortress network carved directly into the solid rock cliffs beneath Luxembourg City… was out of the question the next day, especially given the long drive back on ourselves. Guess it gives me an excuse to revisit!
