And just like that, it is September (and over 6 weeks since our last post 😬)

To put it simply, it has been a difficult summer for us.

Low water levels on the Rhine has caused a lot of chaos – for us and for the guests. From diverted ships to cancelled voyages, there have been a lot of disruptions to deal with.

👉 It’s been hard to motivate ourselves to post happy, positive content on social media in the midst of everything going on behind the scenes.

We have to shout out our wonderful team though. We couldn’t have made it through without them.

Our dedicated office staff has been working hard to reschedule what tours we can, while our tour guide team has remained positive & cheerful for the guests.

🤞We hope with the end of summer approaching (and a few good rainy days), things will start to return to normal. Press your thumbs for us!

This palace isn't just impressive. It's absolutely breathtaking ✨🏰

Welcome back to our behind-the-tour series, where we are following one of our cruise client’s journeys down the Main River.

👉 Today, we step inside the magnificent Residenz Palace in Würzburg.

A masterpiece of Baroque design, this UNESCO-listed landmark dazzles our guests with grand staircases, lavish state rooms, and centuries of royal history.

We organized a guided tour of the palace for our guests so that they could learn about all the fascinating details that make the Residenz shine.

Perhaps the most impressive part is the massive fresco, one of the largest in the world. Don’t miss a wander through the stunning gardens 🌹🌳

📢 Last call for FREE ENTRY into the Cologne Cathedral.

Starting July 1st, the Cologne Cathedral will charge €12/person to enter the famous UNESCO World Heritage site.

Although we are waiting to see exactly how the ticket process will be handled, tickets are available for sale online and at the cathedral ticket office.

Virtual Reality tours are back for the season 🎉👏

We are excited to once again be partnering with to offer walking tours of Cologne that include a virtual reality experience.

👉 This is the perfect combo tour for families and multi-generstional travel groups. Kids love this experience!

Our first walking + VR tour for the season is happening later this week, and we hope to watch TimeRide's newest film titled "Cologne 1945"

Over the last few months, Art of Touring has expanded, as we welcome new tour guides to our team for the 2026 season.

Throughout April, our experienced guides like Sebastian and Nadia have been training the new team membera. Now, they're up to speed and starting to take real tours this month 👏👏

We love Mai Baum day 💕🥹🌳

Do you know the tradition of Mai Baum or May poles in the Rhineland?

On the morning of May 1st, you can walk around the city of Cologne spotting a sudden new phenomenon on nearly every street: a decorated tree hanging on gutters and street posts.

👉 but what does it mean?

In Cologne, people put up maypoles (or maibaum in German) in front of the houses of their beloved at night on April 30th.

Then when their beloved wakes up on May 1st, they will be surprised by the gesture of love.

👉 Typically, these Maibaum are young birch trees, which have been decorated with colorful paper streamers.

The centerpiece of the maypole is the heart hanging on it, which has the name of the beloved person written on it.
