2010 we opened a store on the famous Krämerbrücke in Erfurt.

We wanted to reach people with social media.

However, only drama, disinformation, and constant outrage seem to appeal to the algorithms and generate sufficient clicks. Clicks bring ads, and advertising brings money for Meta.

We no longer support a platform that profits from hate, incitement, and misinformation. Therefore, we are no longer providing content on Facebook and Instagram.

We're moving on – to Bluesky.

Thomas Hackenberg, known from Quiztaxi and the Lindenstrasse (German Sitcom) among others, sent us a picture of his mug yesterday.

Now we're relieved that it arrived safely.

We send a personalized mug to every celebrity who sends us an autograph with a dedication. Unfortunately, it doesn't always arrive because the autograph addresses often don't accept packages.

The 700th anniversary of the stone Krämerbrücke was reason enough for ETMG (Erfurt Tourismus und Marketing GmbH) to set up its own website for the Krämerbrücke. In addition to the dates for the anniversary year, visitors can also find all kinds of information about the bridge and the merchants. “She’s back!” - Our left-handed mug with a Krämerbrücke motif

Last Monday we picked up the “2025 Edition” of our popular left-handed mug directly from the manufacturer in Kahla (Germany).

The special thing about the cups are the 3 quenchers on the side that right-handed people usually drink from. This means that it is unlikely that a right-hander will challenge the left-hander for the cup - or at least try to do so once. 😉

After we did not dare to order new cups for the last 4 years due to the increased production costs (porcelain production uses a lot of gas), we have now agreed a delivery contract for the next 3 years in order to achieve the lowest possible purchase prices. That paid off. The cups remain affordable.

In 2023 we ran out of Krämerbrücken cups. Since then we have had numerous inquiries. The cup is very special in two respects.

Firstly, it is an artist's cup designed by Beate Kister, who as an artist successfully occupies a niche for playful, detailed and colorful watercolor drawings, which many visitors to the Krämerbrücke refer to as “Hundertwasser”.

She sells her works on the Krämerbrücke in the same way that medieval traders sold their goods - in a so-called “shop”. The term shop goes back to the shops that folded a board on the window outwards and offered their goods for sale.

Secondly, the manufacturing effort is enormous. The motif comes in 10 colors. Each color must be applied individually to a film and left to dry for a day. This film is then decorated onto the raw cup without any air bubbles. By heating the cups to 900° Celsius, the colors are baked under the glaze. This is undoubtedly the highest quality that can be achieved in manufacturing.

This year our left-handed shop was once again a collection point for the Christmas parcel convoy.

In addition, our daughter donated many of her board games, we added pens and lots of chocolate and packed 14 packages ourselves.

In the end we had so many packages that they barely fit in our car. The packages were checked at the central collection point in the Erfurt trade fair, particularly light ones were sometimes supplemented with a few toys, hygiene products or chocolate and loaded into the truck. A total of 4,178 packages from Thuringia were sent to Romania to children, some of whom only receive this one gift for Christmas because their families cannot afford presents.

Anyone who would like to support the convoy now is welcome to donate towards the transport costs.
