You hear it before you see it. Bells coming down off the mountain.
After a summer on the high alpine pastures, the cattle come home. If not a single animal was lost, the lead cow wears the flower crown at the front of the herd. Down in the village the herds get sorted back to their farmers. That's the Viehscheid.
Brass bands, market stalls, the whole village out. Not staged for visitors, just how it's always been done.
