Planning on hiking the Black Forest this year? A lot of people have been asking whether the recent fires have had an impact on our trails. Today we hiked our Black Forest Trail as this was the one crossing through the area affected by the fires. The good news - our trail is not anywhere near the area which is closed off to the public. None of our hikes are being impacted. Lets go!

Seems just like yesterday when Rick Steves visited and toured the Black Forest region with us. Not much has changed since then - we are still touring with the purpose of showing visitors the REAL Black Forest - places no travel guide talks about. In the time of mass tourism its getting more and more difficult to find authentic places where you can enjoy nature, quietness and the local culture. But it can be done!

Bächle are small streams running through the old town centre of Freiburg. Dogs love them to drink and cool down. Kids love them to play. People love them to put their feet in the water and enjoy a coffee..Do you know any other city in the world with Bächle like this? We love them!

Only a few minutes away from the Black Forest is Switzerland. We often end our Black Forest Tours in the border town of Basel - giving everyone the opportunity to cool down in the Rhine river. Fun ending of a touring day!
