The dates are set. 🎷🇺🇸

Sounds of the South Tour returns April 1–11, 2027.

Over 11 days, we’ll travel from New Orleans to Nashville, exploring the cities, musicians, venues, and traditions that helped shape American music.

This is a special trip for us because it connects the dots between jazz, blues, gospel, country, and rock & roll in the places where these stories actually happened.

We’ll keep the group small, just 8 travelers.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, now is the time to take a look.

🇧🇷 Most people only see Rio Carnival on TV. What they don’t see is everything that happens before it.

Samba schools rehearse for months, bringing together hundreds—and sometimes thousands—of musicians, dancers, and community members preparing for the parade.

This was one of those nights in Rio. Packed, loud, and full of excitement.

Want to experience Carnival beyond the grandstands? Join us in Rio in February 2027 for a small-group musical journey that puts you closer to the people, traditions, and celebrations that make Carnival so special.

Seville, Spain. A cajón lesson at the Museo del Baile Flamenco during one of our group trips.

A small room, a simple wooden box, and a real introduction to flamenco from the musician’s side of things.

This is the kind of travel we love most.

Few artists represent Colombia’s Pacific coast with the depth, clarity, and respect that brings to the stage. Her voice carries Timbiquí, family tradition, women’s knowledge, river communities, and the living memory of Afro-Colombian music.

That connection is exactly why seeing her at feels so meaningful. The festival brings together many of the same traditions that have shaped her work: marimba music, cantadoras, Pacific percussion, traditional food, dance, and the communities that continue to protect and renew this culture.

The Petronio Álvarez Festival is not just a festival with concerts. It is a gathering place for the people, instruments, flavors, dances, and stories of Colombia’s Pacific region. It is one of the most important cultural events in Colombia, and one of the best places to understand this music in its full context.

We recently published an article about Nidia Góngora, her work with Canalón de Timbiquí, her collaborations, and why she remains such an important voice for Colombian Pacific music. Full article link in the comments.

We are grateful for artists like Nidia and for spaces like Petronio, where these traditions are honored, shared, and carried forward.

This August, we’ll be back in Cali for the Petronio Álvarez Festival as part of our Colombia Music Tour, with stops in Cartagena, San Basilio de Palenque, and Cali. Find more information in the comments section.
