Dear Loyal Customers of Easy Holiday Travels 🙏
In August, Sri Lanka announced a new measure to attract more international tourists by introducing a free visa policy for travelers from 38 countries, set to begin on October 1, but still there has been some delays on this.
While waiting for the new visa policy, tourists can still apply for authorization through the existing ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) system. The ETA system, accessible via the www.eta.gov.lk portal, allows visitors to apply online for tourist, business, or transit visas. The process is relatively straightforward, costs $50, and approval is typically granted within a few hours.
Currently, the free visa option under the ETA system is available only for citizens of China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, and Thailand. In addition, citizens of Singapore, Maldives, Seychelles and the Czech Republic enjoy free visas under the reciprocal agreements.
Until the new visa policy is fully approved, travelers from other countries will need to continue using the standard ETA process.
