Dear customers,
the last few months have been very chalenging for each one of us. The pandemic made many of us adjust their life style and we all experienced changes that noone was expecting. As you can already imagine the travel world crashed and it was almost impossible to go on the long dreamed vacation planned since months or even a short get away trip just to clear our mids from the daily routins and problems. Many of us are still not able to visit family and friends and this is a very difficult situation to deal with.
However we are still working and trying to do our best to help people travel to where they need to be.
However here is some basic information we would like to share with each one of you and maybe answer some questions bottering many of you.
The German Interior Ministry is responsible for the entry regulations to Germany. On their page, you can find some of the most current information in English.
On the official Robert Koch Institute website are daily updates. Listed here are all third countries and regions within the EU for which the German government has issued a travel warning.
Anyone coming to Germany includig US Military and SOFA civilians from risk areas are required to be tested for COVID on entry and placed in quarantine until the test results are known. At Frankfurt International Airport, testing sites are located between terminal 1 & 2 and in the long haul rail area. Additionally, select land Points of Entry also have Covid test sites on the autobahn.
Question:
Under what conditions can I enter Germany from a country that is subject to an entry ban? Are there exceptions and if so, which ones?
Answer:
The list of exceptions to the ban on entering Germany is long. if you have a valid ID card and orders, for all official travel, you are exempt from the ban from entering Germany for “ordinary Americans”. If you leisure travel by plane, you must have your SOFA Card or Stamp and it is highly recommended you take additional documentation such as your house lease, electrical bill etc.
Question:
Can my family or friends visit from the US?
Answer:
If you want to travel from America to Germany and you’re a non-SOFA status Americans, you need a good reason (death, hospitalization, etc. )The reason for travel is checked by the airline at the airport before departure. Only then would you be allowed to fly.
Important: America is currently included in the list of risk areas. This means that after authorized arrival, travelers have to undergo a 14-day quarantine if the testing site is closed or not available. At German airports a quick test can be done. If this test is negative, no quarantine has to be carried out!
Therefore, before you plan your trip, you should find out exactly what the current regulations are for entering all countries. Additionally, almost all countries in Europe require some type of “notification” or “passenger contact” information 0-72 hours prior to arrival. In general the COVID 19 test is done ery easy and results are ready in the next 24 hours, in some cases it can take maximum of 48 hours.
Regarding flights booked to the US or from the US to Germany if by the travel date you are not allowed to travel due to the pandemic restrictions etc., the airline will give you the option to rebook your original planned flight for later dates until end of 2021.
