🙏🏻✨️ Not many people know that the Church of St. Chrysogonus in Rome enshrines a great treasure. In a quiet side chapel, next to the main altar, we prayed before the incorrupt body of the visionary, Blessed Anna Maria Taigi (1769-1837).
Blessed Anna Maria Taigi had the tremendous and extraordinary grace of receiving revelations from Our Lord and His Blessed Mother, from the time she was 21 until her death. In her visions, she foresaw much of the political turmoil that took place during her life; most significantly, the French Revolution and the subsequent weakening of the Church’s temporal authority. She also read the state of souls, both living and dead.
Despite these miraculous gifts, she was content to fulfill her station in life as the wife of 48 years to a poor serving-man and the mother of seven children. Although she loved the poor, sick and miserable, she never neglected her own family. Of her children, two died young, and the others grew in piety under the surveillance of their mother. She joined the Third Order of Trinitarians and made rapid progress in the way of perfection.
During her life, she suffered much both corporally and spiritually and was at times meanly calumniated. But after death, her name soon became venerated in Rome. Her body was transferred several times, and finally rests in the Church of St. Chrysogonus in Trastevere, Rome. The process of her beatification was begun in 1863 and Anna Maria Taigi was beatified on May 30, 1920 by Pope Benedict XV, at which time he declared her protector of families and mothers.
In 1868, 31 years after her death, her coffin was opened and though her clothes had deteriorated, her body was found to be incorrupt. When examined again in 1920, she had begun to decompose and so her visible hands and face were covered with wax replicas.
✨️🙏🏻 Blessed Anna Maria Taigi, protector of families and mothers, pray for us! 🙏🏻❤️
