Our guide Busi shows you the city, while keeping you moving, because the best way to explore is on the run!

Our guest Angelika found her 10K Heart of Munich tour to be “Sehr, sehr schön. Eine gute Form, um einer Stadtführung zu machen und gleichzeitig Sport zu verbinden” (Very, very nice. A good way to do a city tour and combine it with sports at the same time).

Thank you for joining us Angelika!

Rain or shine, we run 🏃‍♀️🌧️

Today, our guide Andrea took Daniela from Switzerland on a 16K sightseeing adventure through Munich. Because why let a little rain stop the fun?

Who’s joining us next?

Why is city manager Didier washing the Go! Running Tours Munich wallet in the fountain at Marienplatz?!

Well, today, is Ash Wednesday, and in Munich we wash our wallets in this fountain for good (financial) luck in the coming year.

This is called Geldbeutelwaschen, a tradition that started back in the 15th century. Ash Wednesday is the day after Carnival, so wallets were empty after all the partying. This was then a good time to clean your wallet and the cleaning became a symbolic ritual to wash new money into the empty wallet.

Since the 1950s, even the mayor of Munich washes the city’s wallet for financial prosperity in the coming year.

Book a running tour with us, and we’ll show you authentic Munich from a local’s perspective.

Munich is full of surprises! We recently discovered this enchanting temporary exhibition of Tropical Butterflies at the Botanical Gardens. We stepped into a lush greenhouse walked among 40 species of tropical butterflies. The exhibition is a lovely escape from winter. And the rest of the greenhouses are also really worth visiting.

The visit to the butterfly house is with a timed ticket (can be booked online in advance or at the ticket office) and gives access to all the greenhouses. Regular price 6.50€. The exhibition runs until 8th March.

Munich looks so much more magical under a blanket of snow. Hoping the snow comes back soon ☃️

For years, we’ve watched the Morris dancers on the Munich Glockenspiel. But this year, we finally saw them dancing in real life.

The Schäfflertanz (or „Coopers’ Dance“) is a centuries-old tradition that began in Munich after the plague of 1517. According to legend, the coopers (barrel makers) danced through the streets to encourage the city’s survivors to celebrate life again. Every seven years, this tradition returns, with dancers performing at locations across Munich. This year, they dance until February 17th, 2026. After that, the next opportunity to witness the Schäfflertanz won’t be until 2031.

A rare glimpse into Munich’s living history. Have you seen the Schäfflertanz in person?

Dates and time for the Schäfflertanz can be found here: https://www.muenchen.de/veranstaltungen/freizeit/brauchtum/schaefflertanz-2026

Our team of guides swapped our usual running routes for a fun and festive 10K run together through Munich’s Christmas markets. Five stops, festive cheer and all the Glühwein!

Route and stops:
🎄Chinese Tower – Munich’s famous beer garden turns into the most romantic Christmas market.
🎄Weißenburgerplatz – The prettiest market in town, full of twinkling lights and charm.
🎄Santa’s Isarzauber – Munich’s newest addition to the holiday scene. Sadly Santa was not in his house when we stopped by…
🎄Pink Christmas – Munich’s q***r Christmas market. A vibrant, inclusive (and very pink!) celebration in the Glockenbachviertel.
🎄Medieval Christmas Market – Back at Odeonsplatz for a final Glühwein and festive treats!

Running through the markets, soaking up the atmosphere, and catching up as friends - what better way to celebrate the end of the year as a team?

Would you love to join a Christmas Market Run next year? Let us know! 👇

Have you seen one of Munich’s most unusual Christmas traditions: the Mercedes-Benz Advent Calendar on Arnulfstraße?

For over 20 years, this giant display has turned the dealership’s windows into a festive countdown. Each day from the 1st to the 24th of December, a new “door” opens, revealing everything from vintage classics to the latest models. (See if you can spot the 1880s original in the reel!)

You’ll most likely find us exploring the city’s streets on foot rather than by car, but even we can appreciate this creative twist on holiday cheer!

And full disclosure: We’re not advertising Mercedes just sharing cool local finds!

What’s your favorite Munich Christmas tradition? Drop a comment below! ⬇️

This weekend, we visited the “Stadt in Trümmern” exhibition at Rathausgalerie. It was fascinating (and sobering) to see the places we know so well from our running tours captured as ruins after World War II.

The exhibition features a range of photographs: the city in flames, artistic compositions of the ruins, and even commercial postcards that documented the destruction. Each offers a unique view of Munich in this dark chapter of history.

If you haven’t seen it yet, the exhibition is well worth a visit. It’s on until 17th December and is free of charge.
