Basti's friend and temporary travel companion Christoph started a motorcycle travel podcast.
And he used the opportunitiy at the last reunion to produce also an episode with Basti.

Basti went for a few weeks to holidays with Olga, Ulli and Werner. Natal still offers a true Brazilian vacation experience as there are only a few foreign tourists.
In the meantime Basti was organizing his flight back to Europe. With the unbelievable help of the motorcycle club Moto Clube B-17 and especially Márcio Antunes Basti could prepare his bike for transport. With that he also found new friends for life.
It was very hard to write this as Márcio passed away just a couple of month later. He was one of the most selfless persons Basti ever knew and incredible passionate about helping him in all ways thinkable! He will always be remembered!

Again sorry for the long silence! Real life is back :)

This blog entry demonstrates how a simple idea (visit a cocoa plant) quickly turns into a unique experience on a trip like this. I feel so grateful to have been able to meet so many extraordinary people.
Thank you Bernd and Erivaldo for showing me your towns and give me an insight on how life in Brazil can be! I now know the chocolate making process in full detail and it made me enjoy chocolate even more. And the chocolate fruit juice! Simply delicious!
I was also blessed to visit the "sloth lady" Vera. She's taking care of ill sloths at home. Thank you for your unlimited love to these special animals!

After Rio Basti found himself in green mountains with towns and food like in the alps! He couldn't resist to eat some delicacies in the Casa Suíça and spend a night in the hotel Baviera...
But the real highlight was waiting the next day, when he was able to observe a family of big Muriqui apes in the wild! So lucky!

Basti met up with Ulli and Werner in Rio. Werner turned out to be the perfect guide and we visited all the must-sees in only two days.
And thanks to Uber we still had plenty of time to enjoy some beers and feel the citys special vibe!

Basti finally finished his video of Patagonia!
Join him riding all the way down to Tierra del Fuego and reach the southernmost point near Ushuaia.
On his way he explores volcanos, hikes to iconic summits like Fitz Roy and Torres del Paine, camps in enchanted woods, gets amazed by the Cueva de las Manos, visits penguins on Isla Magdalena and paddles next to sea lions.

On his long way east to Rio de Janeiro Basti visited a cave with apes and macaws, drove by a beautiful lake with canyons and a waterfall and enjoyed some well paved twisty roads through an area full of giant termite hills.
But after one rainy night while camping he found himself trapped in mud and wished for the insurance Fabi and Denis would have provided ;)

Basti did a huge d-tour to Mato Grosso do Sul to float through the crystal clear rio Sucuri. It was an incredible unique experience and well worth the extra kilometers! Never has he seen fresh water like that.
And it all was possible because of the friendly help of locals. Great first impressions of Brazil!

A highlight on the long way up surely is the Península Valdés. It offers plenty of wildlife to observe: penguins, sea lions, seals, armadillos and if you are extremly lucky orcas.
Well we weren't, but we got to swim with penguins! 😁

Raphael and Basti made a short stop at San Ignacio Miní, the most famous reduction in the area and probably the best preserved one.
But of course it was nothing compared to the very last must-see of Argentina: the Iguazú falls!
These giant falls in the middle of the jungle right at the border between Brazil and Argentina are just spectacular and one of a kind.
It was also the point where Christoph catched up with us so he and Raphael could continue their journey towards Bolivia while Basti would ride up through Brazil. We celebrated our month long trip together with a last barbecue.
