Paris’ Musée du Louvre is 233 years old today. Happy birthday to a national French treasure known worldwide. It is home to the Mona Lisa, but also to a famous sculptor named Germain Pilon. There is a whole room dedicated to his works. Check it out next time you are there.

The grave of an American soldier in Normandy, France overlooking Omaha Beach. The inscription reads: Here rests in honored glory a comrade in arms known but to God. Memorial Day is to honor our fallen service members. Please don’t say “Happy Memorial Day” as it isn’t appropriate.

Reflecting back on my recent trip to Luxembourg 🇱🇺 where the weather was crisp but sunny and the charming villages within the city didn’t disappoint. This scene is from a viewpoint by the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge. Have you ever been? We had a grand time in this clean, chill, orderly, historic city. It’s a quick trip from Paris via train. Try it!

We took a boat trip beginning behind Paris’s Musée d’Orsay on the river Seine. The barge then entered the canal Saint Martin waterways for a relaxing afternoon jaunt, passing through nine lochs in total. This shot is of the pedestrian bridge of the rue de Crimée. We strolled back to our neighborhood where we ended with a sweet treat celebrating a beautiful sunny day in Paris.

Illuminated Notre Dame ceiling shot taken from behind where the Pietà is in the background of the high altar. This marble sculpture by Nicolas Coustou (1723) shows the sorrowful Virgin Mary holding the dead body of Jesus after the Crucifixion. It was created to fulfill the vow of Louis XIII and was spared by the fire in 2019. Napoleon was crowned Emperor just in front of this. I love the way the light hits now that the cathedral has been restored.

Niederheimbach, Germany, along the banks of the Rhine River, is as charming as it looks. The medieval Heimburg Castle above the village dates back to 1294. Christmas Market cruise takes you past this and many more quaint villages with gorgeous landscapes.
