To my dear international friends,
Yesterday the civilians in Srilanka came out to the streets to protest against the corrupt government. Today or tomorrow in international news you will see how violent they were during the protest. You will see videos clips and photos. I am asking you to not believe the news.
The people who stepped out yesterday were parents and young professionals like you and me.Imagine having a new born or a toddler at home on a mid-summer day without electricity, gas and food. Imagine working from home but having no wi-fi. These people have been through this not for a day but for months. Yet they are still protesting peacefully. Because that is one of the core values of Srilankan people. The government on the other hand wants to paint a violent image so they can have an excuse to mute the voice of people. I am not asking you anything or for support, but I want you to know and remember that common Srilankans despise corruption and that they stood and will always stand against it.

Durch die Pandemie hat besonders die Tourismusbranche stark gelitten. In angesagten Fernreisezielen, die besonders stark von Urlaubern abhängig sind, ist man noch weit vom Normalzustand entfernt.
