Motorcycle tours based on historic ISDT (International Six Days Trials) racing events as well as other off the "beaten track" tours

Route of the Legends is a soon to be launched Adventure Motorcycle Travel Service primarily focused on delivering historical tours based on the International Six Days Trials (also known as the ISDT), which ran from 1913 to 1980. The ISDT as the name implies was a yearly six day long distance and endurance trials event conducted primarily in Europe (although there was one event held in the USA in 1

973). Most of the original events were located in a specific country and region, however, in the early years there were some cross Europe events held that crossed multiple countries. Our aim is to replicate the original routes as closely as possible, staying within the road laws of each country (meaning we will primarily be on paved roads). For your information, the ISDT transitioned into the modern International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in 1981 due to the event becoming more of an enduro style race and motorcycles evolving into lightweight machines completely focused on off road racing.

Conducting route/tour scouting during the current heat wave in Italy has proven one big thing. During conditions like this, being based out of a central location with a pool and great facilities makes it much easier to "ride-chill-ride" in comfort. With temperatures over 35* Celsius, we are finding it easier to make a morning tour, come back for pool time then go back out after 18:00 for an evening tour. Between 12:00 and 17:00 it is pretty unbearable on the bike with proper safety gear. Of course the Italians just ride in shorts, t-shirt and sneakers, but I'm not going that route!!
I'm very interested to get feedback on the idea of splitting tour times daily in extreme hot weather and also spending time kicking back and enjoying the pool and the cool of the veranda during the middle of the day.
I would of course always be open to pushing through the heat for certain tour customers, but I think most customers would be open to this "ride-chill-ride" concept. It is a vacation after all.
I've found the combo of riding, pool time, reading and relaxing during the heat of the day to be a fantastic way to relieve all the stress of my normal job!!

Reminder, Route of the Legends will be in the Casentino Valley near Poppi, Italy starting on the 21st of June until 04 July. We will be scouting various tour routes both on small backroads and light off road tracks. We welcome anyone interested in linking up to ride and provide feedback on the scout tours. We will ride every morning for 3-4 hours and usually a more casual evening tour. Just get yourself to the Poppi/Stia area and get yourself a place to stay. Trailer or ride your Motorcycle. This is an amazing area of Italy and very different from most other areas of Tuscany.
