Verdensballetten: Ballet beneath the summer sky 🩰

Once again, Verdensballetten brought world-class ballet and opera out into the open air – and on Djursland, the stage was set at beautiful Møllerup Gods 🏰

The historic estate near Rønde is known for its warm yellow buildings, old trees, parkland and peaceful countryside, and it has become a beloved summer setting for Verdensballetten. Again this year, the dancers returned, with soloists and principal dancers from leading international ballet companies performing highlights from classics such as Sleeping Beauty, Giselle and Manon, alongside new choreography created especially for the tour 🎻

It was Danish summer magic at its most idyllic: guests gathering in the garden for picnics and chilled drinks beneath the trees, Queen Margrethe among the audience, and ballet, opera and classical music unfolding against the golden walls of the estate in the changing light of a warm summer evening 👑

100 years of jazz – right in the heart of Aarhus 🎷

This year, Aarhus Jazz Festival joined the celebration of 100 years of jazz in Denmark – and for ten summer days, the music spilled out across the entire city 🎼

Jazz popped up almost everywhere: on Klostertorv in the middle of the old city, inside Aarhus’ churches, on café stages and Salling ROOFTOP, among the colourful and creative spaces at Institut For (X) – and right by the water at places like Vindanmark 🎺

The programme stretched from a New Orleans-style street parade through the city centre to international names, experimental jazz, intimate church concerts and late-night jams. And with more than 300 concerts across around 30 venues, a large part of the programme was free to experience 🎫

When Aarhus local Anja Oxager moved home after spending several years in Copenhagen, she realised she missed a place like Bellis. So she created it herself - with the help of an incredible crew of volunteers 🫶🏼

Bellis is a cultural venue, a bar, a living room, a workshop, a café, a concert space, a gallery and a restaurant.

There’s always room for an honest cup of coffee or a quirky glass of natural wine, but several days a week, all year round, Bellis also hosts a programme of events. Bring your knitting project, discover your new favourite band at an intimate concert, get creative at a bead workshop, gather friends and strangers around a community dinner, join a book launch, browse an art exhibition or try your hand at a kimchi class 🖍️

There’s room for first dates, solo afternoons, laptop hours and groups of friends. Come on your own or bring your favourite people - either way, Bellis has a way of making everyone feel welcome 🌻

And there’s food too. The kitchen keeps things relaxed and bodega-style, with food made for sharing. Try their kimchi or mushroom panini, small plates, seasonal dishes and homemade bread, all with a focus on veggies 🧀🍠🍋

Hærvejen: Walking together through the heart of Viborg 🥾

Every year, walkers from Denmark and around the world gather for Hærvejsmarchen – Northern Europe’s largest IML walking event and a true celebration of community, movement and the great outdoors 🌻

Across the final weekend of June, routes from 5 to 45 kilometres lead participants through some of Viborg’s most beautiful surroundings: rolling fields, peaceful forests, open countryside, lakeside landscapes and historic stretches of the ancient Hærvejen. Whether joining the traditional march, the colourful Carnival March, the Children’s March or the peaceful Pilgrimage Walk, there is a route and an experience for almost everyone 🌳

Missed it this year? Mark your calendar for 26–27 June 2027, lace up your walking shoes and become part of this international tradition in Viborg.

Randers Festuge: One big summer celebration 🎡

From 7–15 August, Randers Festuge brings nine days of music, culture and summer life to the city – from its cobbled streets and historic squares to the harbour and the banks of the Gudenå 🎪🌾🎸

The festival opens at Rådhustorvet with the crowning of Årets Randersborger and a live concert by local soul artist RENAY 🎙️
Across the week, the programme moves between major concerts – including Sort Sol and D-A-D – and smaller experiences throughout the city: a treasure hunt for children, free street theatre, family activities and musical walks where movement, live sounds and the nature around the Gudenå come together 🤹🏻‍♂️

With hundreds of experiences, many of them free, Randers becomes one large open-air stage. Café tables spill into the streets, performances appear around unexpected corners, and locals and visitors meet 🪁

Riverboat: Jazz on the lakes 🎷
Every summer, the sound of trumpets, saxophones and swinging rhythms drifts across Silkeborg’s harbour, streets and lakes.

But what truly sets this festival apart is found out on the water. Since the very first Riverboat in 1966, jazz bands have boarded Silkeborg’s historic boats and played their way along the Gudenå and across the lakes, surrounded by forests, open skies and some of Denmark’s most beautiful nature ⛵️

Back on land, the programme continues with concerts, morning singalongs, jam sessions and plenty of free music around the harbour and throughout the city – turning Silkeborg into one big jazz meeting place at the beginning of summer 🎺
