A Festival of Icons 👩🏼‍🎤

Historic and beautiful Viborg set the stage for a brand-new festival — though the lineup came with impressive years of experience 🕺🏾

Icons who have shaped the music industry for decades took to the stage, making visitors from near and far dance under the June sun; The crowd sang along to The Cardigans, grooved to Nile Rodgers’ massive back catalogue, and was wowed by Chaka Khan’s mighty vocals in the summer night at 🎙️🎷🪩

The charming festival grounds served food far above the usual standard: tartare toast from the formidable .jeunes.viborg, gourmet quiche from , and a crispy Vietnamese bowl. A wine bar poured chilled rosé and sparkling bubbles, while a beach bar served up Tequila Sunrises, Mai Tais and Piña Coladas with cocktail cherries — all in true ’80s style, bringing back memories of Tom Cruise in Cocktail 🍹

A new classic of a festival is born, and we can’t wait for next year! ⚡️

Pizza with a view 🍕
A few years ago, the innovative and driven Cathrine Brandt opened Brandt Brød — a sourdough bakery that quickly became a local gem in Silkeborg. On every opening day, people still queue for the soft, crusty bread fresh from the oven 🥖

Naturally, the next step was savoury sourdough pizzas. Right next door, the bakery got a colourful neighbour — with disco balls, bold design, great drinks on tap and bottle, and crisp pizzas topped with potato, aubergine, artichoke, spicy salami and more 🌶️

Take your slice to go, enjoy it right by the riverbank of the Gudenå with views of wild kayakers and lush greenery, or bring it along on your next adventure in Silkeborg’s stunning nature 🚣🏻‍♂️🌳💧

Nothing Blue about Blå Sol Festival 💙

The Aarhus region is bursting with exciting festivals and major music events throughout the summer — and here’s the latest addition to the lineup. Blå Sol (Blue Sun) in Randers, named after the city’s legendary beer Blå Thor, made a roaring debut on Saturday, June 7, at Nordre Fælled 🪁

The festival kicked off with a “christening” — an official inauguration of the new city festival by the mayor. From there, one band after another took the audience by storm. Locals and visitors danced to beloved names like Hugorm, TV2, Tessa, Dodo & The Dodos, and many more 🎤💎🪩

Blå Sol is created by local, proud Randers-based forces who are passionate about community, music, and celebration. Welcome to the world — we’re already looking forward to dancing with you again next year! 🧞‍♂️

Budget-friendly bites in a maze of concrete & culture 🍽️

In the raw concrete heart of Aarhus K lies Godsbanen – a former train yard turned cultural powerhouse 🚂 A place where the walls are dotted with neon and yarn art, the air buzzes with exhibitions, theatre and the scent of coffee, and the corridors echo with clattering tools and creative chaos. It’s a living, quirky building you can get happily lost in 🫟🛠️🎭

At the centre of it all is – a no-nonsense eatery serving honest, down-to-earth food made from local, seasonal ingredients. Think juicy pork, slow-cooked chicken, creamy bygotto, fresh potatoes and pickled greens 🥬 🍖🥔
A modern folk kitchen where a main course will only set you back 110 DKK – or just 38 for a side of fries 🍟

Come for a chaotic weekday dinner with the kids - A low-key date night that won’t break the bank - Or just grab a cinnamon bun and coffee to go and head out toward the skate park, Institut for X and Volume Village 🛹

NorthSide 2025 - Music, Magic, Mud ❤️‍🔥

Imagine being able to dance in the mud, headbang to rock music, and sing in chorus with thousands of other happy guests at a magnificent, international concert experience — on a huge, magical festival site just a walk from Aarhus Central Station 🎪🎊🎸

Once again this year, NorthSide came to life in Eskelunden, bringing everything we know and love: plant-based, indulgent festival food, DJ-sets in the fairy-lit forest, meeting friends in the festival toilet queue, secret bars with cocktails and vodka-pickle shots, afternoon dancing in the tent, cold draft beers in reusable cups, intense table tennis competitions — and spectacular music for every taste! 🍹✨🌯

We are already looking forward to next year — and to the other major musical highlights of the summer across the Aarhus Region 🎈🎟️🥁

Uncover centuries of stories in the wild beauty of Hald Ege 🌾

Hidden in the rolling hills south of Viborg, Hald Ruin is more than just an ancient castle ruin – it’s a window into Denmark’s dramatic past 🏰
Once home to powerful bishops and noblemen, this 16th-century fortress saw intrigue, rebellion, and royal power struggles unfold within its thick stone walls ⚔️

Today, the ruin rests peacefully by the shimmering Hald Lake, surrounded by forests, heather-clad hills, and winding trails that invite you to explore. Whether you’re drawn by the echoes of history or the call of nature, Hald Ege offers a unique blend of cultural depth and natural beauty 🍃

Bring your walking shoes, your curiosity – and maybe a picnic – and discover a hidden treasure in the heart of Jutland 🛡️

Like a beacon in Aarhus’ new (yet old) neighborhood of Sydhavnen, SyvNi13 rises above the old slaughterhouses, coal bridge, industrial harbor, and cattle market 🏗️
The restaurant has relocated to a stunning and historic spot within TRÆ, Denmark’s tallest wooden high-rise, clad in repurposed mailboxes 📬

Take the elevator to the 19th floor, and you’ll be treated to views over the industrial area, but also across the old red roof tiles of Frederiksbjerg, the Marselisborg forest and beach, and towards the city center. In fact, there’s a full 360-degree panorama, and almost every table in the restaurant offers a window seat 🌇

You’ll be greeted by a magnificent little wine room filled with the scent of fine carpentry details, a busy open kitchen, and a bar with mirrors, ensuring you never really turn your back to the view 🥂

The food is simple, seasonal, and shareable, served in either 4 or 7 courses. And you can round off your evening with a signature cocktail – the “Aarhus Set” 🥃 This twist on the old Ceres Top with a side of Arnbitter has been boiled down, mixed up, and transformed into a surprisingly refreshing drink, perfect for sipping as you peer through binoculars towards Tivoli Friheden or perhaps catch a glimpse of a porpoise in Aarhus Bay 👀

23/04/2025

Tucked away at Institut for X, behind the school of architecture, under a wine bar in a wooden cabin, through a tiny hatch with narrow opening hours - you’ll find a micro-bakery; The hidden gem is run by sourdough nerd Rasmus, an experienced and innovative bartender who felt the urge to get closer to food - and back to Aarhus - after 15 years on Copenhagen’s cocktail scene 🥃

Now he’s a self-taught baker, serving up perfectly baked, crispy sourdough rolls, soft, sweet cinnamon buns with sinful cream cheese frosting (oh yes), and filter coffee over the tiny counter Thursday to Saturday - and soon Sundays too 🥨☕️

The architecture students claimed this little treasure ages ago, and there’s a loyal crew of local regulars. But word has spread, and folks are starting to make their way from the far corners of Aarhus for a crackling loaf or a sugary treat. Swing by for a coffee combo and grab a sunny spot at the lively playground that is Institut for X 🥖🌞
