Greenland is home to several different types of ice, and each type has its own story!
🧊 Sea Ice – forms when ocean water freezes during winter.
🧊 Glacier Ice – created from snow that has been compressed over thousands of years.
🧊 Icebergs – enormous chunks of glacier ice that break off and drift into the ocean.(this can also be white ice, blue ice and black ice depending on how much oxygen there is)
🧊 Fresh Snow Ice – the youngest ice, formed from recently fallen snow.

The age of Greenland's ice is even more fascinating. Some glacier ice is thousands of years old, while scientists have found ice deep within the Greenland Ice Sheet that is more than 100,000 years old! 🌍⏳

Each layer of ice acts like a frozen history book, helping scientists understand Earth's past climate and environment.

The small helipad in Qeqertarsuaq plays an important role in everyday life for the island community. Located on Disko Island, away from the mainland the helipad connects residents with nearby towns and larger transport hubs through regular helicopter services. On this 16-day adventure, you’ll experience the stunning contrasts of Greenland’s nature and lifestyle — from south to north, from small settlements to the capital city. After five days in the south, the journey continues north aboard the coastal ship Sarfaq Ittuk toward Nuuk. Greenland’s capital and commercial center, Nuuk, offers you a full day to enjoy its vibrant culture, museums, and urban energy. As one of the smallest capitals in the world, Nuuk embodies modern Greenland — dynamic, creative, and full of life.

Next, you’ll head to the ice paradise of Ilulissat, world-famous for its towering icebergs and the breathtaking Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage ❄
