The FIFA U-17 World Cup opens in Santiago and Santo Domingo

The Dominican Republic will play Ecuador in Santiago’s FC Stadium at 7pm as part of the 16 October 2024 opening games for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. This is the first time that a FIFA World Cup is played in the Dominican Republic.

In total, 32 matches will be played at the Santiago FC Stadium and the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo from 16 October to 3 November 2024.

Previous winner of the U-17 World Cup are Korea DPR, Japan, France, Korea Republic and Spain.

The teams are divided in four pools:
Group A: Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, Nigeria
Group B: Spain, USA, Korea Republic, Colombia
Group C: Korea DPR, Mexico, Kenya, England
Group D: Japan, Poland, Brazil, Zambia

This is Alejandro.
Our first student in our Domino Foundation Project who received a full scholarship in a private school in Puerto Plata.

He studied since he was 5 years in El Manguito School, now he is 12 and started his journey in a private school.

Alejandro is very intelligent and with this scholarship his future will change significant.

We are so proud of him.

Having this said we also noticed that his level is far below the level of his fellow students.

The teachers offer to help him with some extra after school hours to get him on the same level and to offer him help with his homework and to study at school after school times.

We didn't realize that it will be very difficult for him to study at home, with 8 other young kids running around him (siblings and cousins) all living in the same house.

He might need those extra lessons for about 6 months.
The costs for those extra hours is USD 4000 (USD 80) per month.

The foundation spend all money on the uniforms for the 81 kids and some extra funds for the laptop he needed in school.

We don't want him to give up on this school now, because he is behind his class mates, but want to get him as soon as possible to the same level, with the help from some amazing teachers.

The only thing missing is some money, to let him follow those after school lessons.

We completed shopping now for 70 kids and we have received some more donations.

So proud that all our kids from last year who are still in Manguito School can attend classes by the end of August as they have received their full uniforms and school supplies.

Alex, Andrew, Danielle, Emelin, Frank, Jordanny, Mileisy, Rebecca, Runiely, Yaciely and Zadhiel have happy faces as well.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU.

Any new donations we will use for the 4/5 years old who would like to attend classes, but are not registered yet as they don't have the uniform/supplies.
