The sight of airplane tails brings me such comfort and joy.
Growing up with parents in the airline industry meant frequent trips to the airport. I had access to areas in the 1980s that are off limits to non-workers today. I sold Girl Scout cookies in the break room, stamped same day boarding tickets in the back room of the ticket counter. Accessed back hallways and stairwells to watch the St Louis Cardinals return from their World Series win.
To me an airport isn’t just a place I travel through on my way to my next exciting destination. It’s a portal to my future and my past.
