Here is a travel report from three young Germans whom we were able to advise in advance of their planning.
You tell us how much your trip can cost.
We calculate carefully and look for the best for you

After 14 days visiting the DR, here are my tips and information that I hope can be useful as this group helped us a lot on our trip. Thank you all!
Transportation
- During our entire stay we took the bus in all the cities we visited, the buses are very safe, we were with two women and never felt uncomfortable, Dominicans will always help you if you have questions about a stop, traveling by bus is recommended.
Climate
- As many people say: don't trust weather forecasts, especially not many days in advance. The closest thing to reality is to see the forecast the same day and it can give an indication of what the day will be like.
Punta Cana
- The Impressive Punta Cana Hotel is not as impressive as the name suggests. It is a little worth it if you choose the premium option, but for a little more money it is better to choose another hotel.
- The excursions to Pedrito Punta Cana are different from the others, the attention and quality are very good.
- If you go to Scape Park, not many people know that in the park there is a free option to visit Juanillo Beach. The transportation is completely free and there are two times available: departure from the park at 11:00 am and return after 1:00 pm and departure at 2:00 pm and return at 4:00 pm. We visited all the attractions in the park and on the beach and had time to do everything. Juanillo beach is really beautiful.
- In Scape Park there are lockers but you need a padlock, which was a surprise for us since we didn't know we had to buy a padlock for $5. If you can, take your padlock and save the money. Also, there are many attractions where you need a waterproof protector for your phone to take pictures. These are also sold in the park but are a bit expensive.
Bayahibe
- If you open the Uber app there are taxis available but the rates are not the best for the drivers and they will always text you to negotiate the prices before picking you up. Either they negotiate or they find a local taxi.
- Dominucus beach can be visited by bus from Bayahibe and is very beautiful and worth visiting.
Las Terrenas
- We took a taxi from Bayahibe to La Romana, then a bus from La Romana to Las Americas (Sichoem) station and then another bus to Las Terrenas. For this last bus there is a new price and it is 500 pesos.
- We visited Hatises and Cayo Levantado and unfortunately we couldn't swim in Cayo Levantado because there were jellyfish. We must take into account that neither the excursion nor a sign on the beach warned us that there were many jellyfish and we saw many people running away, so be very careful when entering the water and inform yourself beforehand if you have been bitten.
Santo Domingo
- As many recommend, the colonial area is the best place to stay, everything can be done on foot. Uber works pretty well
-We visited Boca Chica by bus and it is a good option to swim on the beach near Santo Domingo. It should be noted that we were there on a Wednesday morning and from what we heard there were not many people, on weekends there are many more people.
- To buy tickets for the 3 Ojos park you have to be inside the park and at the entrance there is a QR code with the link. The wifi did not work so you need internet.
Bonus: SIM cards can be bought at any exchange office or company that sells them, there are many everywhere, we bought a Claro SIM card for $10 with 8GB, the 8GB lasted us 14 days without having to recharge it and sharing the internet between two phones, whenever there was wifi in a company or hotel we used it and thus were able to have a single SIM card for 14 days without recharging.
Thank you to all Dominicans for your kindness and always good mood. Best wishes and a big hug to Mr. Hans Kunzle, he helped us a lot in planning our trip. We will come back anytime! 🇩🇴🤍
