Trekking Adventure DR The Adventure

Our trekking adventure will be sure to leave even the most experienced hikers short of breath and sore for days.

It will please both your desire to connect with some of the best that Mother Nature has to offer, as well as your yearning for a good physical challenge. Although this trek will is physically demanding and mentally stimulating, it is neither extreme nor dangerous. We begin the climb in the early hours of the morning passing through the "Northern Mountain Range" with a light walk down into the "cor

dillera." We will then cross the "Camu River” approximately two kilometer away. After the river, a beautiful meadow appears before us, a smooth trail will lead us to the beginning of our first ascent in pursuit of "The Cerro La Descubierta”, about six kilometers away. This excursion will reach altitudes of more than seven hundred meters at our final destination in the isolated village of "BAJABONIQUITO". The temperature on the island is 27 degrees average, however in the summertime the mercury in the thermometers is known to climb into thirties and drop to the low twenties in the early winter hours. As we acquire altitude, the spectacular panoramic views of the Puerto Plata region, along with the Atlantic Ocean and lush nature will appear all around us. We will continue to ascend through a difficult passage and then descend to a small stream surrounded with beautiful flora, highlighting the savage Bromelia among other species. Once on the open trail, we will begin to observe spontaneous encounters of the various species of native birds, especially our own tropical green parrots. We may also get a glimpse of our Dominican hawk "El Guaraguao", that soars through the Cordillera or perhaps with a little luck on the hunt for pray. We will then pass through the "Cerro La Descubierta", a natural hall surrounded by a variety of trees and breathtaking views. To the north we will see Mount Isabel De Torres, standing tall in her lush green beauty with the Atlantic Ocean stretched out behind her. To the south we will see some of the cordilleras highest peaks, including the highest of all "Mount Diego De Ocampo (1,249 meters above sea level). We will take some time to enjoy the peace, the views, the mixture of the mountain and ocean breezes, and also to enjoy the vibrant butterflies dancing in the wind, and of course the shallow flights of native birds. We will resume our journey with a short walk to a small village call "La Gotera". At this point, we will have time to freshen up and chat with the residents, sharing laughter with them over how proud they are about the abundance of water and how lucky they are. La Gotera, is the end of the excursion for amateurs and for those fit nature lovers. BAJABONIQUITO, will be our next and final destination for those who are in real good physical condition and looking forward a true connection with nature. We will travel along a remote passages, cross many of this areas fresh streams. After our last but not long ascent we will reach Bajaboniquito, where we will spend sometime resting while admiring the peaks surrounding us from the very heart of our great "Cordillera Septentrional".

Triste realidad!

We’ve read so many complains of how millions of plastic straws end up in oceans. Well, new study confirms that cigarette filters are actually the worst contaminant in our waters. Entire corporations, retailers and states target plastic straws, and several food chains have already banned their use....
