⛪️Altos de Chavón

🏡A must-see in the Dominican Republic is the village of Altos de Chavón, in La Romana, a replica of a 16th century Italian-Spanish village with its cobblestone streets.

🎨Also known as the "City of Artists", it has become a cultural center of the region.

🖼This replica was built in 1976 by Roberto Copa, former designer of Paramount Studios, and Charles Bludhorn, an American industrialist, on a site with a wonderful view of the Chavon River.🏞

👨‍🎨Altos de Chavon is famous for several attractions at once. It is a meeting point for different types of art. You can find artists' studios, craft workshops and art galleries and also cozy coffee shops and cafes.☕️

⛪️The St. Stanislaus Church, where celebrities get married, located in the central plaza of Altos de Chavón, is one of the most photographed monuments of the complex.

🏺🏟Wonderful Greek-style amphitheater.
This 5,000-seat amphitheater is built in the center of Altos de Chavón.

🌳North Coast - Puerto Plata, Sosua, Cabarete, Samana

🧭The northern coast is probably the most contrasting region in the DR: the Atlantic ocean here is completely different than in Punta Cana, there are beaches with golden sand and big waves, but the main difference from other vacation destinations is mountains.
🌊Quite high waves walk here all year round to attract surfers from around the world, but the main season comes in winter. At the same time, this is the most cloudy and rainy region of the Dominican Republic.

🏡Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarete are very picturesque and interesting towns, but we would not recommend traveling with children here: high waves on the ocean do not allow kids to swim safely, and safety in towns at night is not the best. This region is good for independent tourists, especially for surfers. Along the coast there are both resorts, as well as small hotels and hostels, where you can rent equipment for surfing and a coach.
