IN THE PATH OF THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY STORM?

Here are a few 'below freezing' survival tips from our part of the world.

What to do when it is below freezing for days and your power goes out? These tips may help make it a little less miserable.

*Pick the smallest bedroom in the house and bring ALL your blankets, sleeping bags, and people/critters into that one room. Shut the door! Close the blinds or curtains.
*Don't worry about warming the rest of the house.
*Put people and critters together under the covers. This allows for shared body heat. Don't leave anyone without someone else.
*Put your water bottles under the covers as well to avoid all of your water supply being frozen. Don't leave all your water out or in the kitchen to become unusable as the house drops in temperature.
*Candles - you may be surprised at how much just one candle can warm a room. Don't light ALL your candles at once. You don't know how long you may need them. Only light a couple at a time. If you only have a couple - only light one at a time.
*Do NOT leave the candle unsupervised at any time & keep a fire extinguisher close by at all times.
*You don't ALL need your phones 24/7. Always keep one off to save the battery in case of emergency. Prior to the power going out - make sure everyone has a fully charged phone, as well as power packs if you have them.
*NEVER USE A GRILL INSIDE THE HOUSE! They have toxic fumes that can kill ya.
