Hot out of my email, Jamaica is relaxing entry protocols. Visitors 12 and older will still need a negative Covid-19 test conducted 72 hours prior to the date of travel. However, there is no longer the need to receive the travel authorization form code.

Earlier this month I flew out of Lansing's Capital Region International Airport on Swift Air. I was with a group of travel advisors headed to Punta Cana for tours of some select resorts. I was really surprised at how easy an experience this was checking in, going through security and waiting to catch my flight. I live 10 minutes from DTW so I am spoiled by being close to a large Delta Hub. However, I would totally make the hour longer drive again under the right circumstances. The flight costs this year are definitely hindering families from traveling. Besides the financial aspect, Lansing is a smaller airport so anyone who gets flight anxiety, this might be a better option. I can see this as a better experience for those who have children with sensory sensitivities, due to the smaller size airport it is not as busy. Plus the plane doesn't have any screens or loud messages going on over the speaker. Also the parking lot is a surface lot right outside the check-in desks. So those from the above groups or with mobility difficulties this is another benefit. Long term parking is cheaper than DTW at $10. It took me about 20 minutes from check-in until gate . We were told to arrive 2 hours before our international flight instead of the typical 3 that the larger airports request. So that alone made the trip time the same for me. Lansing has seasonal non-stop charter flights to and through Apple Leisure Group. Here is a clip of the check in area. If you are looking for an easy last minute affordable getaway, there are some Cancun and Punta Cana nonstop charter seats left on flights departing March and April.
