In the Guiness book of records - the largest mojito made in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic :)

Fun fact - from Diario Libre newspaper today:
The Dominican Republic is the Guinness Book of Records for making the largest mojito in the world.
The event was held in 4 Jacks Bar at Downtown entertainment area in Punta Cana on Saturday evening. It took an hour and 35 minutes to prepare the mojito, mixed in a glass that was 2.6 m / 8.5 ft tall. It was used around 600 liters of white rum, 1,200 liters of soda, 250 kg / 555 lbs of sugar, 50 kg / 110 lbs of mint, 500 kg / 1,100 lbs of lime and 2,300 kg / 5,070 lbs of ice. The total volume of the drink was 4,000 liters, beating the previous record set in Spain.
More than 40 people were involved in making the drink and hundreds of people attended the event and enjoyed the mojito after it was accredited by Evelyn Carreras, the judge responsible for verifying its authenticity.
The official GBR is showing slightly different amounts, but the paper was pretty close, showing a bit more rum :)

Once again the lobster ban is here! Not only Dominican republic, but the whole Caribbean. Do not buy locally caught lobsters please between March 1 and June 30 !

Do not order fresh lobsters at the restaurants, do not buy them from the fisherman.

I am not a baseball fan, but many of you are, so here is some info that might be useful for you, specially if you want to catch a game in Santo Domingo while here ona vacation.

Caribbean Series 20016 started yesterday in Santo Domingo
The location is - the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium
You can still buy tickets at La Sirena shopping centers at their branches on Av. Winston Churchill, San Isidro, Galeria 360 and Luperon in Santo Domingo.
The ticket prices:
Section A: US$60 (two games), final game US$50
Section AA: US$40 (two games), final game US$30
Preferred: US$30 (two games), final game US$20
Stage AA box: US$20 (two games), final game US$20
Terrace: US$6 (two games), final game US$5

From today's news:
" The minister of Environment officially opened this year's Whale Watching Season yesterday, Monday 18 January 2016. An estimated 60,000 visitors will travel to Samana peninsula (north east) to see the whales."
The whale watching season officially ends 15 March 2016, but we have seen in the last few years the whales up to the mid April.
It is a beautiful show to watch how they play in the water, of course there are many restrictions and rules for all tour operators to protect the humpback whales sanctuary. If you haven't seen it yet, get more details
